The grind may be a bit long but it's not terrible if you are good at avoiding the other players or have a friend to tag along and shoot the shit with. plus you get a decent amount of cash from all the vendor junk. I just got to the north myself but FUCK the boss fight with Guard! That was entirely aids at first... it's doable so long as you have a decent aim and a automatic weapon.

The game is alright up until you get to the North, the late game is all month long grinds and Clan/Guild PVP Content with a pretty unfun questline, savour the lower level areas.
Haven't touched Stalker 2 since release, is it worth going back now or waiting until early next year?
