I personally think it's a bit of both. I also think that Nicola is also one of many cases of fucked up zoomers coming into adulthood with a severe case of Internet induced psychosis. The Internet either amplified her pre-existing mental issues or they are the root cause of said mental issues. More likely the former than the latter.
