It's strange that many of its biggest fans were the same people screeching about how exiting your home is tantamount to "killing grandma", when those hideous fake nails Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion have here are known disease vectors. Every time I see someone wearing them I immediately think "how do they wipe?" and recoil in disgust.

I've rented for my whole adult life.
(NZ is Shit for home ownership)
Like, decades.
I've NEVER rented a house that provided more than a stove for an appliance and that's what's legally required, That and a heating source, fireplace if you're lucky or wall panel heaters running on electric.
Its interesting seeing the norms in other countries.
My husband and his friends from Russia are horrified that we don't have double glazing or central heating either...

Here in QLD, we have no use for heating, as we just put a long sleeve shirt on for the winter fortnight.

While specific furniture like a fridge or washing machine isn't mandated, the property must be weatherproof, structurally sound, free from vermin, and have functioning locks"

There's the usual shit-brown caveat to that, and in many cities, a slitty-eyed yellow one too. Foreign landlords and rentals can be dire, especially in an environment of massive over-migration and subsequent demand raise. Often, Jeets especially will be 20 to a flat, and you know what they will do to it. They don't much care for regulations or standards, as if the renter doesn't like it or complains, they can fuck off as the queue to rent is round the block and back again.

the more you listen to covid panickers the more clear it becomes that they perceive covid as a social disease, not a result of a virus
you don't get it from being dirty or getting sneezed on, you get it from protesting wrong or not virtue signaling properly or doing things to help your mental state

I don't blame the establishment; I imagine that behavior is bad for business. You have guests and they have to deal with rowdiness from irate disruptors while the police just prolong the process. It shouldn't take 20 minutes for law enforcement to vacate trespassers out of a building. What pisses me off most about them is the police would handle them with kid gloves, then they still cry racism when THEY escalate the situation.

Oh my God. You try having a conversation with liberal types about those sort of people that consume EBT stipends. "Oh, it's desperation because they NEED it to survive because of socioeconomic factors." What about the elderly couple on a fixed income? What about the family that's inbetween jobs trying to make ends meet from inflation? You'd think the people that actually NEED some assistance would want a share of the $3000/month food stipend Shiquina abuses on luxury foodstuffs because she doesn't know (or WANT to) keep her legs closed.

Jesus Christ, there wouldn't NEED to be a shutdown on EBT/SNAP if the system was reevaluated to minimize obvious abuse of welfare. Fine, let them call for riots and looting at grocery stores. Then, watch the Pikachu surprise faces when they have to commute 20+ minutes to the nearest store since the burned out Walmart cannot afford to stay there. Or, potentially, have food costs go up for EVERYBODY because of increased supply.

Oh yeah, that's what I mean -- I'm on the businesses' side on this one. If I call the cops to have an unruly ape removed, I expect it done now, not 20 minutes from now once he's chased off all my other customers, wrecked half my furniture and smashed all the front windows.

Fucking ridiculous the cops take so long to do the simplest part of their job (stopping and removing an active, obvious criminal in the act).
