Troonslop "Retro" Games / Demake games / PS1 Trannies / ULTRAKILL / Y2K trannies - Retro gaming is infected

Mouthwashing is on sale and I can't tell if it is secretly good, tuberslop, or god forbid troonslop. Please make my choice for me before I spend money.
 
So has anyone actually found a Signalis fan who isn't an AGP freak yet?
The friend who shared me Signalis years ago is a schizo from Hong Kong who is an unironic Hong Kong 'Ultranationalist' and wishes NATO can bomb the Three Gorges Dam in China and create #ExChina.

Normal Signalis fans do exist, but they're a rare breed, probably 1/3 of the community. It's easy to tell which is which because a 'normal' Signalis fan only views the lesbian/yuri stuff in the game as well, just fanservice. and tbh I have more respect for those niggas than your average transbian who tries to make their fetish into a 'woke' thing. At least they're honest about it.

It's alright but definitely not that great as all the video essayists hype it up to be. Its good for a quick 2/3 hour game sesh once you beat the game and thats it. There's no alternate endings either. IMO just dive into the game and play it because its very short and it has no alternate endings. If Blockbuster was still a thing it would make for an OK rental

Because we know the type of people that make games like this and have a "unique" art style where you can barely tell what most of the characters are supposed to be on purpose.

I think what makes it worse is that most of those people do not have a base of knowledge\skill rooted in the art direction they're subverting, so it not only seems like a mockery, it doesn't even look like it belongs.

It's not even that hard to design an at least serviceable character - brevity is soul of wit - less fluff would mean more memorability, even if you want your character to have some elements which require an X amount of time to render. And, obviously, you need to know what their design elements represent and their function - a lot of modern devs just copy from the media they like, so their designs end up having details with no purpose\function.

I was kinda surprised playing it because video essayists made it seem like the rape and how it deconstructs patriarchy or whatever is the main point of the game. In reality, it's probably the most minor plot point, like 99% of the game is about literally anything else.

Clearly the devs themselves don't take it seriously since they released a Nendroid of everyone's favorite rape victim, comes with a recreation of her own suicide!

If you seen the SJW Art thread here then it gives you an idea of how they operate. They have no real concept of cohesion or the creative thoughts that go behind why something is the way it is even if the answer is "the artist wanted it to be like that". Even in a completely built from the ground up world, Absolum's style and concepts drew issues with me that I see in a lot of fantasy works made by these types of people. That "female" character that i showed off was the first sign as i stated because yeah yeah "it's what they wanted" but like i said artistically you went so far out of your way to make them look masculine you should have just made them a guy. Then you see them get mad and jump through hoops about "androgyny" and that is when you should just leave them alone lol as nothing of value will be had with that conversation.

See it's a thing i talk about with friends since i am the art guy of our group. Things that might not have lasted a long time but left an impact work because of the ideas and concepts thought around them. Even if you're not gonna make the next big thing you can leave an impression if peolpe can look back and have memories of something you made. with games like Absolum they look like everything else so right now it's popular but i bet people here can name and find dozens of other projects that look like this or have the same weird stylings that nobody is thinking about.

To cap this whole little tirade off, remember this comes from the types that sort of spawned like a decade ago on tumblr and they are still doing this. They talk about being so unique and standing out when what they are doing because a new "normal".
 

Beta Decay is the only interesting gane using PS graphics and that's mostly down to actually understanding the tech limits and how they were used. Plus being an actual game with mechanics and substance helps too.

Apparently there's a Hong Kong 97 sequel coming out with an "America bad" message instead. Something about this doesn't feel very Kowloon Kurosawa, there's no real life dead bodies and it feels very GameMaker.

Someone should make an epic sequel to his Shoko Asahara game where you plan a sarin attack on US public transport after cars have been banned.

The only PS1 style game that woke interest in me was the one with the Parasite Eve 1 style combat. Of course i don't remember its name because, of course, i am retarded. Trailer looked nice-ish and the devs seemed to understand that just using low poly count alone doesn't make a "true" PS1 style game. At least that's how i remember what was shown in the trailer. It's buried somewhere in the "Quirky Indie RPGs" thread.
