Part of the issue is tribalism. If someone is part of "us", we tend to assign only positive qualities to them, if someone is one of "them" we tend to see only negative traits. People see themselves as extensions of the group. If you acknowledge that a person in your group did something bad, you are admitting that you are capable of doing something bad. That's irrational, but that's how it works. That's why you see in tight-knit churches when a pastor or someone in authority is accused of sexual misconduct, people shame the victim. Acknowledging that someone who is one of "us" can do something evil means that we're not perfect and that our group has flaws. Most people don't think about these things on a rational level, this is all instinctive.
Predators, particularly the smarter ones, are aware of these facts, and they choose groups that highly tribalistic cause they know they can use that as a shield. Wesley isn't as smart as he thinks he is, but he's got enough savvy to pick groups that have an "us against the world" mentality because he can get people to treat an attack on him as an attack on the group, when it is in fact, just him.
Doesn't hurt that that "tribe" treats being raped as a fashion accessory. You're not "in" unless youve been viciously raped x-number of times.
This has lead to everyone claiming to have been #analripped against their will for cool points, and of course the elephant in the room is the unspoken knowledge that everyone knows everyone else is full of shit because they themselves are full of shit.
This is why troons are constantly accusing everyone of being a rapist or of raping them - to them it's just an insult void of true meaning that they can use as a trump card to get the last word in whatever dumb twitter argument they happen to be involved in that day.
