Yet another admission of failure. If your ideology is so fragile that it can't stand up to a simple conversation with your opponents without threat of abandonment, then not only is it flawed, you know it is flawed. They might as well toss in the towel.

I think she's mostly just naive about the engageability of her opponents. She admits she doesn't really know what they're like, and that feeds into her optimism that she can change their minds through engagement.

She'll learn the hard way. She'll also learn that bigots are perfectly capable of seeming nice when they're right in front of you.

I'm trying not to be overly pessimistic here, but I've seen countless people start on this same path: they just say we need to facilitate discussion between the left and the right. Then the right sucks up to them, while the left is continuously asking them to change, so they find themselves growing more and more sympathetic towards the right until the point where their views are indistinguishable from Sean Hannity's (or in some cases, Richard Spencer's).

This brings up the horseshoe analogy between fundamentalist religious cults who isolate themselves and their members using the justification that outsiders or their ideas would in some way poison their souls.

In the case of the FBI's "GamerGate" investigation, what is supposed to be the gross miscarriage of justice in the eyes of GamerGhazi is that the FBI did not bother trying to convict people who supposedly sent death threats to anti-GamerGate figureheads. So the worst act that GamerGhazi can has accused GamerGate of is that they sent death threats, and at worst it would be "someone who supported GamerGate sent death threats to X" since none of these people were actually notable.
Let's contrast that with anti-GamerGate. Anti-GamerGate supporters like CON members Sarah Nyberg or Robert Marmolejo and even disgraced figureheads previously promoted by GamerGhazi like Devin Faraci have been exposed as active sexual predators who have shown a sustained pattern of either repeatedly grooming an 8-year-old relative for sexual assault and distributing inappropriate pictures of her in the case of Nyberg or attacking multiple women in the case of Marmolejo and Faraci.
We can all agree that all of these individuals would be completely indefensible in this context if not for one exception:

The reasoning I have gotten (not from ghazi, but from their kind) when I have pointed this out, is that the Chechen people are white, and it is their whiteness that causes their 'problematic' behaviour. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, but I was.

Well, plus one point for recognizing that class even exists, something SJWs generally refuse to acknowledge since they are almost guaranteed to come from wealth privilege, but minus several million for not getting that, if you are concerned with racism, the real "problem" with the phrase "white trash" is that it implies that it is entirely natural for black people to be trash, so if white people are trash, the fact that they're white and trash is actually the issue. You have to qualify "trash" with "white" to point out the unusualness of it.

The complexity of this double implication is lost on these fools.

It's not that hard to believe. Hitler tried to draw on Muslim hatred of the Jews to varying degrees of success, and formed an SS division of Bosnian Muslims, along with supporting the Iraqi revolt in 1941.
