I wouldn't stress about getting the taxonomy of Nick's mental condition correct too much because what's more important than the label is the symptoms and behavior. I do think that Nick intellectually knows what people consider to be right and wrong, but Nick does not believe he needs to be bound by the rules that govern ordinary people, most likely because he sees himself as above rules, but also probably because he does not "feel" a sense of morality like how people tend to describe sociopaths. Nick's morals stem entirely from self-interest, and often change based on what he believes benefits him personally, as opposed to any ideological, religious, ethical, or political consistency.

Nick complies with social and societal rules to the extent that he thinks it will benefit him and disregards what he thinks will not. For years, Nick "masked" as Mr. Trad Dad because he felt that the persona he put on would earn him money and approval. What has changed in the more recent years is that due to Nick's rise in public profile was that Nick did not feel he needed the mask anymore and discarded it. After years of drug use, I do not think he has the impulse control to engage in a convincing masking anymore or conceal his hideous true self. All that's left is a sad little man desperately and unsuccessfully trying to manipulate people into accepting his fucked up way of thinking.

Nick also has a frail ego yet a massive sense of self-importance. Nick craves the attention and approval of others, but obsesses over negative attention to such an extent that he can't help but lash out at even mild criticism. The utter onslaught of negative attention since his arrest and his inability to disengage from it basically keeps him in a Sisyphean death spiral of trying and failing to rebuild what he lost. Ironically, his massive ego prevents him from ever showing a hint of real contrition, which would be the only way to win people back over.

He's also petty, obsessive, vindictive, and generally a murder-suicide waiting to happen.
