People really are sheep when it comes to math. That's almost $1,000 a month, not including fees or anything else.
Saving $1,000 a month instead means you can buy a shitbox immediately and after two years (probably sooner with depreciation or buying 2nd hand) getting that dream Sentra (wow!).
Instead you get it NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW and pay a whole extra year of interest.
I feel guilty spending $10 on a game on sale once a month rather than putting it on the mortgage, and I'm very financially comfortable. I've no idea how these people survive past 25 financially speaking.
Bring back debtors prisons, if only to prevent these people financially killing themselves further.

Pure niggercattle finance. I'm surprised they're even allowed to load so much debt onto a rapidly depreciating object such as a car. The moment you drive it off the lot you already lost thousands of dollars. I understand America is a car country and you might need one financed at all cost, despite not having anything down, but giving someone a 24% loan for a new car is just stupid. Imagine still paying ~1000 a month when you're 30 for a car you bought 6 years ago. She should just save money, get the money down and take on a light loan with a low % to build up her credit.
the advice from reddit is decent though. Telling her to figure out what the fuck they're trying to do, and getting out of the contract if it is a ghost sale.

That's precisely why it's 24%. It's the fool tax for not putting more than $500 down on a vehicle that will not pay off the loan if it has to be repo'd and sold. Even $500 down on a house would get you better terms.
