The Amazing Digital Circus - Western Isekai that probably will become Hazbin Hotel killer

I just watched this show for the first time and I was very entertained by it. It seems like something like this should be terrible. Am I missing something? In the age of nothing good to watch, I've really been happy with this. Already rewatched the available episodes once too.
I think it's genuinely good despite my whinging about Goose.

Its intimately symbiotic, parasocial relationship with the fanbase as it airs is weird/creepy to witness, however. That's just how things are in teh modern era ig. Perhaps I am old and out of touch.

This seems like a really strange approach. By the time TADC wraps up, initial hype from all the pilots will be long gone. Do they expect people to just watch whatever they decide to put out regardless of what show gets selected?
Murder drone episode 2 was released over a year after the pilot. Digital circus pilot was a phenomenon and it took glitch 8 months to release a second episode. Gaslight district pilot was in april, then greenlit in july and we still have no teaser or release date yet. KoG pilot was released in september and its not even confirmed to be greenlit yet.

Glitch seem to be either slow or confident that they can take as long as they need if they're sure the next show will explode in popularity. The problem is that TADC it's clear Gaslight District and Knights of guinevere sure ain't hitting the standards set by TADC or even Murder Drones so they're sure as hell sticking with TADC till it ends.

They might be stockpiling episodes

You know it's bad when even TV Tropes is calling out trannies for how hard they project onto Jax.

Glitch doesn't make money from the shows but for the merch

The more people wait, the more hype builds up, the more people expect the show etc

It's in glitch's interest to extend the release of the show a bit and let fans talk about the show

If they did the Netflix "dump it all in one go" hype would die in 1 month instead of carrying of for 2+ years

Is this show even worth watching? I keep hearing it’s bad from both the haters and the fans
It's a show that really doesn't know what it wants to be. It has all the trappings of a kids show but deals with heavy emotional subject matter like depression and suicidal thoughts, but also is strictly tailored for 13 year olds with the total lack of swear words. And the jokes are so weird and very rarely get a straight chuckle out of you. It has this very awkward atmosphere that's hard to describe

I think the awkwardness comes from overusing contrast and "theming" at the expense of tone etc. Goose wants the abstract designs and kiddy aspects to make TADC's heavy themes and breakdowns hit harder. On paper. But in practice, after the Gummigoo episode the show became a series of jerkoff and therapy sessions really quickly. The first two episodes had hints of this, with the vore monsters. However, they have two episodes left now and the show barely went anywhere.

You might be wondering, "Isn't that the point? To show that these characters won't actually escape and are at the mercy of this deranged AI? To learn what these characters' deals are and how they cope?" On paper. But as a degenerate troon (chai tea, I know), Goose writes one-handed. Every time he has Zooble complain about her body/identity, or has characters break down because "I want to see them suffer 😈😈😈," you just know. You just know that TADC is Goose's magical realm. You don't see it, but your brain does.

Zooble's angst about her body is so forced. Moreso because her, yes HER, VA is clearly a woman but they're trying to do this ambiguous gender shit.

She sounds like a woman, acts like a woman and even her cartoonish mix-and-match appearance still manages to look feminine. If they simply must do a they/them monstrosity, at least make the gender ambiguous.

The term you are looking for is “man-children.”

To be fair, I won’t lie and pretend I wasn’t entertained. But this is a children’s cartoon by every metric that matters. It’s just the technicality that they have used raunchy language and references to sex that would stop this from airing on Nickelodeon. It’s a kid’s idea of “adult.”

The Amazing Digital Circus does have a great horror premise that it never truly lives up to. A truly adult show would have leaned more toward existential horror, or horror in general.

But it really has just been colorful characters having whimsical adventures alongside a Steven Universe style of therapy session. It even has silly characters unironically giving kiddie morals like “everyone should feel like they matter!” and “follow your dreams!”

Hell they even nail the part of kid’s cartoons being basically used to advertise merch.

It has been a huge success with children because it is a kid’s cartoon that’s in denial it is a kid’s cartoon. To be fair Goosework, has done a solid job so far. But he never outgrew that Saturday morning cartoon phase and it shows,

I think they will suffer a bit after TADC ends. Gaslight isn't terrible but it's trying to be to many things at once... are your immortal undead nilistic or happy go lucky? Do they long for oblivion or do they actively fear that their immortality will end?

It and it feels wrong to use this comparison but it has the same issue as hasbin hotel. How does your world work...? If you take from Christianity for a setting but then ignore all of its rules things quickly stop making sense. It feels like a overly comedic play in the worst ways.
