I think it's a bit funnier than that. When MNPR posted the CPS docs originally, Null said he wasn't certain they were legitimate, and I think he actually closed the thread temporarily.

And then Nick decided to talk to Null about it and thank him for closing the thread (which is weird to care about a thread if you truly don't care about what people are saying on it) and confirmed the document was real, so Null proceeded to announce they were real and then re-open the thread. He thought he finally managed to figure out a way to tell Null what he wanted him to do without saying it to maintain deniability (like he's tried and failed before, like with the Drexel stuff) and it backfired in a spectacular fashion. It wasn't that Null let MNPR post the docs, it's that Null refused to do Nick's bidding: Nick wants to command people to do the things he wants them to do, but he doesn't want to say his commands, because he also wants to say he doesn't tell people what to do. And his attempt to do it to Null made it worse. I think he honestly expected Null to keep his thread closed forever, and the fact this thread wasn't just alive, but actually thriving (at least during that time) and generating new posts accurately describing how much he fucking sucks, it's all like more slaps to his face that he doesn't do to himself.

Don't forget Nick also flipped his shit when MNPR posted April's address and actually demanded Null remove the post (claiming that what MNPR was doing was against the site rules and therefore should be removed), which as we know didn't happen. When Nick tries to get people to do what he wants by not saying it, it doesn't work, and when he does actually have the chutzpah to not be a fucking bitch and say what he wants, it doesn't work. He can't win.

Close, but not quite.

He closed this thread temporarily because he wanted to corral the insane amount of discussion that drop created to its own thread. Nick simply saw this thread locked, and thanked Null for that, believing that Null was completely suppressing the thing. Instead of what he was actually doing, which was getting everybody to move over to another thread for a spell. In the course of thanking Null, Nick basically confirmed to Null the drop was real. Null never stopped the discussion. Nick was just too dumb to understand the discussion had moved and never once stopped.
