Mega Rad Gun Thread

I don't know how anyone here wouldn't at least be a mild "prepper". Even FEMA recommends every American has three days of food and water for every person and pet in the household. Personally, I have two weeks food and water, though I need to swap out my supply soon, as well as medical supplies and some cooking equipment. How many disasters have you seen in America where the government abandons White people at the first opportunity? Hurricane Katrina, the Palestine Ohio train derailment, that hurricane that fucked up the Southeast a couple of years ago, the list goes on and on. It's insane how much trust people put into a government that has proven itself incompetent at best, and malicious at worst.

I also have 500 rounds of M855A1 if things really get spicy.
Why? It doesn't penetrate LVL IV plates and is much more expensive, difficult to find, and sketchy to run in your gun. It does ok with terminal effect, but worse than a much cheaper and more available 77 grain OTM would do.

Why should I stockpile food and drinks?
I'll just call door dash.

I have a basic amount of food and water for a couple weeks, as well as some medical, but I guess I just don’t consider that “prepping”.
Why not. I got it in trade for way less than people buy it for. I’m not super worried about finding the rounds with the greatest terminal effect when shot placement is far more important, and I’m extremely unlikely to actually have to use my rifle for defensive purposes. That being said I do have 2500 rounds of 77 OTMs, but I use those for longer range because it is more accurate.

What do you consider "prepping"? Going into six figure debt to build a bunker?

Fair enough. I thought you paid the insane prices I have seen people asking for it, hence my question. If I could get it for comparable to m855 prices then I would probably pick some up too, given that it has superior terminal ballistics after penetrating body armor and improvised armor, but only if I knew my gun wouldn't pipe bomb from the higher pressures.

supposed pro-gun republican politicians ever put effort into reversing it or even stopping it.
Liberal (temporary) gun owner talking point. I am not champion of the republican party, but you have to be willfully ignorant to believe this. Red states have significantly increased gun ownership rights over the last three decades. And at the national level, conservatives nominate and appoint pro 2a supreme court justices.

Temporary gun owners love to equate "muh bump stocks ban" to sweeping gun control so they can feel better about voting for the party who campaign on disarming the citizenry.

They're fun, if the old ways and old stuff are appealing to you - I have a Remington 1858 replica that I like to take out every now and then. Nothing quite smells like black powder going off (in a good way). Just remember to clean everything thoroughly and oil it up after a range trip.

I'm not disputing that. What I mean is that the ever increasing amount of states with AWBs and idiotic gun laws are almost never even acknowledged by most Republican politicians. Regardless of which party is doing the disarmament (which is often democrat, as you said) they often just stand back and watch. Occasionally they do chime in with their own restrictive ideas (bump stock ban, etc.) which as you mentioned aren't nearly as bad, but expose the motivations of these people. Obviously the states with good gun laws need to be commended for that, but they aren't the problem here, and while they might be improving their own gun laws there are just as many, if not more states going and passing AWBs and worse as we speak like Virginia.

Most of the “preppers“ I have encountered are people that buy way too much stuff that they never can realistically use, don’t train at all, and aren’t even in any sort of decent physical shape. Basically people that are just going to be a loot drop.

On the other hand, people that are “self-sufficient” are in a different category. They are people who actually live a life that might enable them to survive bad times.

I don’t consider myself a terribly self-sufficient person being that I live in suburbia. I try to be realistic with the situations I feel I will encounter. If the zombie apocalypse happens, I’m not already living a completely self-sufficient life in the middle of nowhere, so there is no hope for that for me.

The can I ordered for use with the Dissent (and a couple of my handguns) has arrived at my FFL, so we'll see how fast Form 4s are being processed, I guess. Already have a hub Plan B adapter and KVP Plan B brake that I need to install, but waiting for a bottle of Rocksett to ship as well.

This is my first can, so the whole process has been interesting.

I’ve never once been concerned with my carry ammo not working. If my hand load fails on some deer I’m be mad but it’s not the end of the world. I’m just not comfortable carrying self-defense ammo I’ve made myself as much fun as that is in Fallout New Vegas.
I'd reload SHTF ammo like 77gn 5.56 or 9mm HPs but I wouldn't carry reloaded normal defense ammo as I think that'd look REALLY bad in court. I'd already be careful what ammo you pick such as maybe not the Phillips screwdriver looking ones, the 65gn really fast 9mm, RIP rounds, or vintage collectible Black Talons. Better off with something boring sounding that won't stand out and draw attention. 50 bucks every other year to cycle through your carry ammo is better than lots more lawyer debt or jail time.

This bill is great! In a perfect world, in a perfect America, you would he able to purchase any gun you want, AND the Civilian Marksmanship Program would be nationalized (on a state level) and instead of qualifying to purchase the surplus guns, you would get one M16 OR one M24 and a M9.

Honestly I wish rights worked how leftists thought they did, where basically they just mean you get free shit. They think the right to health care means it should be free, but something tells me they wouldn't like it too much if they applied that logic to the 2nd amendment would they?

something that irks me to no end is that the Remington new model army of 1863 has somehow been given the appellation of "1858"

1858 is simply the year when the patent for the cylinder retention system was filed.

So it turns out that they're moving pretty fucking fast on Form 4s now. Just got notified that I can pick up my new can. Sadly I've got other stuff to deal with this afternoon, but I'm a little surprised at how fast that went. It's almost like they were institutionally dragging their ass on them up until the most recent presidential election.

bros i got one of those coats that paul always wore in his vids. Mine's a carhartt and it's got so many useful pockets. I can easily fit 25 12 gauge shells in the front pockets and they are very accessible. There is a zip pocket on the left breast that can hold earplugs and hunting licenses/tags. banger coat, built like a tank. loose enough to have layers under.

the boomers were onto something with those shooting vests and jackets man, too bad they are out of fashion right now.

This could have a -80 dB rating and magically give you sub 1moa and you'd still never see me attaching a phallic shaped object that goes backwards and forwards like this probably does.

You better learn how to blink each eye independently like a lizard because its getting dicks drawn on it if you ever close both for even a moment.

Not only would I buy it, and also have a dick cerakoted onto it, but I would also poke it through the openings of a vtac barricade while firing.
