Assuming the charges of second degree child endangerment and second degree false imprisonment are regarding their own children, I have questions.
Mostly about the second degree false imprisonment.
Their oldest kid is what, 8? Youngest about 4? Don't you kind of have to keep kids that age contained lest they go out and do normal kid stuff like playing in the street or climbing on the roof?
What does false imprisonment mean for those ages?

I would assume that Kendra's charges stem from her taking the children and leaving the state to avoid having them interviewed by child welfare authorities.
 
So we don't know she left the state. We DO know Joe is charged with the same 8 charges and has been in jail since Wednesday. So something happened Wednesday night when he was arrested, is my guess. But we don't know for certain.

I would also add, carefully, that the fact she was only held 90 minutes bodes very well for a not-fleeing-with-the-children scenario. Otherwise she may not have been released. I am assuming, however, she attempted Weds to keep CPS from being able to speak to the kids. Or there was something about the state of the home that led to the charges, which both parents are responsible for. A gun left out, maybe?

Again, this is all incredibly speculative.

Because there are zero consequences for them. This kind of thing - police getting involved, actual charges - almost never happens. I know at least four fundie women who were molested when they were children, and the men who did it are still out there. There's basically nothing anyone can do about it unless the child's parents cooperate, which most of them don't. One pedo molested two generations of girls. Nothing happened to him for it. It's sick.

Before they changed the laws in most US states, fundamentalist men were marrying 14 year old girls with parental consent. It was legal in the 90s. Now the youngest they can go is 16.

Michelle may not have molested the kids, but she's just as guilty for enabling them, enabling Jim, and covering up for Josh's crimes. If they really loved their kids, they would have done the hardest thing and turned him in for molestation.

It probably would have prevented all the shit he got arrested for.

Maybe they lock their kids in their rooms at night to keep them from tempting each other/their father. I remember this was one method that the Duggars put in place to try to "protect" the daughters from Josh. Why stop there? They may as well fit each kid with a chastity belt, less of a fire hazard.

These people make my skin crawl.

The only good thing that could be considered a silver lining in all this is that more and more people are realizing just how much sex abuse is happening in fundamentalist and other extreme religious groups.

I think this happens in any religion when its sufficiently fundamentalist or controlling.

I'm thinking of the FLDS with their rampant child marriage and rape. The many sex abuse cases in the Catholic church, which happened more often in areas of high religiosity, and to more vulnerable victims like kids in boarding schools etc. Some weird pedo practices in certain branches of Islam, like the "dancing boys" in Afghanistan.

I think it's a problem of religion in general. And not even just religion. Power corrupts. If someone feels they have spiritual power over someone else, it corrupts them just the same. But Hollywood and the Asian idol industries have toooons of sex abuse against children and young people, without religion being much of a factor. And of course all the Epstein shit.

It really does just seem like power corrupts. It becomes addictive and people need more and more power to get that heady feeling, and adults automatically have power over children, so...

Although after typing this all out, these particular fundie groups seem unique in how they train their sons to be pedos. 🤔

It really makes me rethink why these men want to have up to 7 children in these religious groups. When I went to Christian churches, they wanted to build big families because of the "army of God" whole deal. Having tons of kids to fight evil and all that. I used to hear that all the time growing up.

When it came to Quiverful, I heard it was because they wanted to overwhelm the voting population with fundamentalists Christians so they could get their way and win votes to turn America into a more religious country.
