DarksydePhil / TheyCallMeDSP / Phil Burnell - General Discussion

Phil Burnell - a man who chose possessions over love, laziness over employment security, instant gratification over life satisfaction and accomplishment.
No longer willing to connect on an interpersonal level with any other life form. And this has all been his own doing. Once so full of life and hope, now completely dependent on the graciousness of others to fund his shallow and slovenly lifestyle.
A tortured soul, unable to grasp the smallest shred of peace in the still quiet of the night, though he may reach for it desperately.
What ruin lies in store for the man this day remains to be seen...

This Instagram post was at fucking 6AM his time.

Well he has to keep the drama alive so the money keeps rolling in. I think he realized announcing the Atlus strike was lifted was a mistake because he quickly followed up with "this is still a really bad situation you guys with the Rockstar strikes okay." If the strikes are not from Rockstar there is no problem they will be dropped he just has to wait them out but he has to keep the narrative alive that Dspgaming is in "dire straits" so he privates the videos to make his fans worry and give some money. This is another time Machinima would really have helped out. Remember how quick he got his streaming and stuff back from the famous "false copyright strikes of 2015." Their must have been a really good reason Phil "parted ways" with them that he just has not told us yet.

Really though he is bitching because he has to wait. If Dsp does not get the instant gratification he desires it goes right into tantrum mode. That Wolverine toy must have really stuck out because it had to be the ONLY time his parents said no to him. So Youtube has not gotten to him yet and he is threatening some intern who works their help desk that they are being condescending and if they don't fix this problem he will go to the papers and sue Google and win. The fact his go to threat is to sue makes me believe the settlement check theory about his back. He got one payday and now he thinks that will be the outcome for any court case he is involved in. I mean how could he lose? He is Phil Burnell and he is always in the right.

yeah the whole "great news guys....but don't worry i'm still completely boned so keep the money coming" thing is so gross it's beyond me.

But they are. If they weren't fucking around with this penniless nobody these DMCA strikes against him would be brought before a court and slaughtered like a fucking animal for being the overstepping nonsense they fucking are. In fact, I am so sure of this, and so angry at seeing companies bully random tards on YouTube, I am strongly considering going into IP law so I can represent idiots like Phil.

Edit: And no, I recognize DSP's arguments are weak, but that's because he's dumb as fuck. He acts like a headless chicken any time shit gets real but if you cut the quick on this, RS would recognize a disproportionately expensive legal battle with tons of negative press.

I don't really have a strong opinion on this argument, asides from annoyance towards streamers who act like what they do is this incredible service, that they're special for being able to provide but you're right that spite towards those people shouldn't overpower the desire for the rights of the average person to be upheld.

I can't really argue against any of what you said because of the 'would you rather play Dark Souls or watch DSP flaling and failing at Dark Souls,' line alone since that's 100% true. I honestly wouldn't give most video games a second thought if it wasn't for their connection with DSP, one of the best cows around.

Anyways it seems like the strikes were bogus and should be easily cleared, if Phil can just calm down and stop himself from behaving like an idiot and pissing off Youtube into shutting down his channel out of sheer contempt for him alone.

Do I think anyone from the main SoK group did anything? No. They are spegy but would never go that far they observe just like we do but have a lil talk show and shit which is spergy but can be funny. Do I think some fanboy for SoK who has a hard-on for Phil did? Maybe. But Phil himself taking Google to court rofl, please do Phil your ass would be drowned in paperwork and all of this is speculation, point is he already has an Atlus strike that IS legit that isn't going away and Curse does not have the protection Machinima had. So it's open season.

Not to mention he blames SoK like ISIS is in the media. They are the boogeyman.

The Atlus Strike was removed yesterday, as soon as Atlus USA told him that the strike wasn't fair and wouldn't be pursued he was always going to be fine in that regard. If a business doesn't pursue a counterclaim within 14 days it automatically gets removed anyway.

A person who cannot control their spending and has no ability to live within their means will never be saved from crushing debt. This is a guy who was already massively in horrible financial shape in 2011 when the Machinima cash started rolling in, he lucked out and got out of that mess, and look where he's at yet again.
DSP could win the lottery and would be one of those people that spend it all in a month.
Whether the strikes get resolved or not, the clock is ticking on his let's play career because the debt DSP put himself in is a bear of a detractor that is always on his tail, inching closer each day.
The most hilariously ironic aspect to Phil's entire life is that he once had separate jobs as both a Financial Advisor and in Continuous Improvement. :story:

It was removed? Last I heard they were looking into it and never said they were removing it yet.

I never see anything wrong with a thread diverting off its main topic if it's at least loosely relevant, like this was, for a while. I'd say from now on we should go back to talking about DSP but I see no reason to move anything that was said previously.

Sometimes instead of complaining posts are off topic, it's more positive a contribution to write posts that are actually on topic instead.

Is Phil still planning on going on his time off despite what's happened? I'm looking forward to seeing what his online footprint is like while he's away. He's told us to not be surprised if we don't hear from him for the duration of his holiday but I'd be pretty shocked if he wasn't regularly making Instagram posts about looking in the pet store or showing off what wonderful food he's made next.

A couple days ago, I would have said that the majority of his attention and therefore Tweets and Instagram posts would have been on the great city of Seattle and how many amazing sites he's missed out on the last 3 years. Now with this Rockstar strike situation, Phil will be consumed with any progress being made in getting them cleared. During last night's stream, he was perpetually stopping his play in order to check his email for updates.
With the inevitability of Curse dropping him if the strikes do not get resolved before Friday and having to potentially pull in north of $800 per streaming day if he loses the YouTube revenue, all his thought is bent on if he can pridefully and disingenuously grovel enough to pull that much cash out of people.

I wish DSP would do video explaining his legal argument and his understanding how US courts work.

I suspect he does not understand that 1) lawyers are expensive and 2) they do not work for free.

Him making threats of legal to YouTube in regards to his situation makes no sense. Phil has no money to pay for lawyers to file for him.

"ACK stupid lawyers won't pro boner my case doodes!"
