- By committing felonies, you infringe upon the rights of other people and therefore give up many of your own. Your plan suggests that ordinary people would have their firearms confiscated from them even though they hadn't committed any crimes, making it unconstitutional.
Unconstitutional right now. I'd work on making it constitutional. As an example of what could be done without outlawing guns entirely, you can make an extremely elaborate and exhaustive process to discourage people from getting guns. You can ban most types of guns. You could put an extremely high tax on guns. You could create financial incentives and benefits for those who do not have guns. You can get rid of open carrying. You can ban guns on any government property. You can create a government mandate requiring guns to have a much smaller amount of bullets able to be shot before needing to load it with more bullets. You can work on making guns less dangerous and less harmful in the bullets used and the firing mechanism used. Plenty of different ideas to strong arm them.
