He said that sometimes people say that his family has money and they really don't They were middle class in Syria and then the war happened and they lost everything minus their house which now has bullet holes in it. Any money that they had in Lebanon, there was a Lebanon financial crisis and so that's all fucking gone.

Basically, he poor. He needs to ask his parents for grocery help soemtimes which he says sucks.

this is stuff we should have known during the first few days. We've all just assumed he was a richfag the entire time because of how he seemingly doesn't care about the money. The only thing I've missed about Sam not being there is that he'd ask real questions in the confessionals that would get answers like this.
