That whole post was eloquently put. This has happened to so many hobbies it is kind of incredible to see it continue. The FGC, speedrunning, smash as a whole was oblitterated by this, and the list goes on. Pick one, its probably going through a degen spike, the more "welcoming" the worse it will become. If people don't gatekeep the things they enjoy, they will devolve into degeneracy and autism before being snuffed out completely. RIP and felt.

Has there ever been a successful amount of gatekeeping in any of these circles? Not to be pessimistic but I've never seen something that isn't lolifag adjacent (e.g. Blue Archive) or inherently meant to ward off these people (e.g. the Sharty) that has pulled this off.
Gatekeeping I feel only really works for small tightnit communities or in the case of larger communities, when everyone is on the same page. It's a lot harder these days for Nerd shit to gatekeep because western culture has cultivated the woke shit into people's mentalities so thoroughly that troons and fags are just part of it now.

The millennials (sans hbox, axe) got pushed out of the scene by 20yo UnclePunch kids sometime in the early 20's. The decline in manual dexterity and reaction time coupled with the free elite level training and snappy net netplay sealed the fate of the oldheads. Something like 17 of the top 20 players are zoomers and that number only gets worse as you go down to top 50, 100 etc.
There's two I know of, one is 19 maining Luigi, the other is 14 playing Donkey Kong. Both are pretty fucking good at the game.
RapMonster, a Luigi main, another kid that plays Donkey Kong, and there was another player called OGKid who played Jigglypuff.

Honestly, this is a big reason i simply don't interact with Melee beyond going to my own Local & tuning into the occasional major during grands. I even had a conversation with another player at my last local about how "out of the loop" I feel with Melee news simply because I don't go on Twitter anymore, & how even though that is sorta sad, it makes it 10x more enjoyable to play the game.
Not to double post in the thread, but you mentioning Dial M made me think about the latest Melee occurrence that's gone on resulting in a 2-month ban from specific events.
The niggers could at least recognize and publicly say crack was destroying their communities, you'd get lynched for saying the same about HRT. Niggers are literally more self aware than trannies.
