How retarded do you have to be to get deported from the US under president Biden? Even by nonexistent sub-Saharan standards this guy is a failure.
Way more retarded than you can even imagine.
He was here on a work visa with very clear terms - he was only allowed to be in the States for six months over an agreed-upon 12-month period. He interpreted that to mean he could come for six months, leave (for like, a couple days), then come back and reset the six-month term.
He was discussing this openly with members of the SFWA, who were advising him that he misunderstood his visa terms and was risking serious legal consequences. In his niggardly arrogance, he publically flaunted his visa on social media, almost mocking those trying to help him. Eventually, Pests started shitting up his social media posts trying to draw the attention of various legal and government entities, which just made Ooga more adament on breaking his visa terms.
He was unceremoniously detained at LAX and held for almost 72 hours. Watching the SFWA melt down on Twitter - Rick included - demanding his release was hysterical, one of the funniest things that's ever happened in the Fatrick saga. He missed the Hugo Awards show where they had literally invented an entirely new category of speculative African nonsense just so they could present him with a trophy and take pictures with their DEI pet. Lol. What collosal shitshow.
The absolute best part was finding the SFWA members arguing amongst themselves over who was to blame for this fiasco - the Pests, or Ooga himself for his entitled arrogance. The SFWA has a digital newsletter and forum called File770 where they gossip about industry news. They have been following the Rick saga ever since the Pests bombed his Goodreads reviews page back in like 2020. When members started reading speculation that their dues were being spent on a frivilous lawsuit to support an author who had only just joined the organization recently, seemingly just so he could weaponize their legal fund, some of them weren't happy about it and some of them wondered if this wouldn't potentially violate their filing as a non-profit. When Rick's lawsuit fell through after the funds dried up, his relationship with the SFWA fell apart and the mod of the File770 forum (Mike Glyer, I believe) started taking an openly hostile stance whenever the topic of Rick or his orbiters came up. But File770 is a story for another day.
The entire episode is documented here in this megathread (need an account to view).
