Sonichu Sonichu drawing for sale

I dug through the Ebay rules and these are the relevant results that I could find (the site isn't very user-friendly though, so I might have missed something):
I don't think what Chris did falls under either of these categories, but, again, I might be wrong. I theorize the reason it got pulled was that eBay can't look into all reports they get so they get a bit gung-ho when there's a lot of reports coming in on a single item. It says that you get an e-mail when it happens and that you can make a case for it if the item was wrongfully taken down and it'll go up again.

Chris didn't pay attention though.

The whole thing is really sad, if chris put his stupid sonichu draw for 50$ I swear I would buy it only for the laughs of these days. Thats 5 times more than an amateur earns with his average cat paintings. But no, of course not, he is an artist and wants 1000 bucks to buy 5 sets of legos. God

If he didn't have such a big ego he might have already sold it by putting it up for the true and original buy it now price of $100.

yeah....There is no way in hell I would waste my money on any sonichu drawings myself but if Chris was smart enough he could easily be selling a few prints.
Too bad he's a greedy ass. It's 1000 upfront or nothing.

So I looked to see if there were any artists who had sold or exhibited art of a similar standard as Chris'.

And there were.

John Lurie, for instance, whose painting Bear Surprise spawned the Preved Medved meme.

Doesn't that have all the hallmarks of a Chandler - wonky perspective, crudely-drawn animals, speech balloons, eroticism?

Lurie describes his work as an extension of drawings that went on the fridge in his childhood.

I think that's the key. Lurie has the self-awareness to present his art as a return to childish naivete. Maybe he can draw better if he wants, although I think he has a debilitating illness.

Anyway. If the right...art manager (is that a thing?) could put a spin on Chris' work - how the realities of ageing more clearly highlight the beauty and impossibility in youthful dreaming, perhaps - then maybe Chris could become a niche figure in the art world.

inb4 it not happening, though

I think it's a copyright thing. Ian clearly STOLE the whole idea from someone else. It's not TRUE and ORIGINAL, and it's definitely not Fresh.

The fact that he's actually been lowering the price actually says he IS able to learn things that don't directly benefit him. Which is quite a surprise to me.
