Again there's a lot of similarities between "Sophie" and Christine Chandler, and other exceptional individuals who attended Special Education classes and got overwhelming praise for the most trivial of achievements. He probably regards himself as "gifted", or something similar.

Most children grow out of this phase after building an adequate theory of mind and transitioning from self to social cognition (being able to reasonably discern your own strengths and achievements in regards to your peers). But poor dear Chris is still left behind in his kindergarten mindset where he feels like he's smarter than everyone else contrary to factual evidence showing otherwise.
