Jess could have just rolled her eyes and chastised Thad Feelgood for his unthinking comment, then make a conciliatory gesture, and it would have been a moment of growth for both of them. If outrage isn't the only option, why settle for it?

He misgendered a game journo, and they ran a callout-style article about it, so now a whole new wave of people who (at most) only cared about his work in passing are getting royally pissy. It's pretty goofy.

This is the same dude who made a game where the final couple levels were cut out if you played on easy and then spent 10 minutes reciting worm factoids and making fun of the player. This guy has been this much of an asshole fundie since day one.

Which is why anyone getting pissed at him for remaining consistent is a fool. He's been a bit of an asshole since day one, won't deny it, but I find it somewhat admirable he remains consistent about it and doesn't apologize for it.
As for his games, same thing applies. EWJ has always been an irreverent, snarky series that snarks at itself and the player, so getting mad his work will mock you for going on easy mode is like being outraged at Doug for breathing.
