We Made It Pink, Now Buy It - Because women will buy anything if it's "girly" enough, right?

Oh lord have mercy... I don't mind pink tools when they are made pink for breast cancer and the profits go to a good cause but these aren't for it. Why, just why? Because females want cute pink things?

when i first was getting into guns, i remember the marketing for Smith and Wesson in the 1980's at the time had offerings for cosmetically altered pistols under the "Ladysmith" product line.

My first firearms instructor recommended we buy a pink Ladysmith and load it with 'safety bullets' because it would look better to a jury after we'd blown a hole in a burglar.

In reality, 'safety bullets' are shot shells. They're 'safe' because they don't penetrate walls and do damage in unintended places, but they can seriously fuck up anything soft they hit at close range, like flesh.

Little guns for women are a terrible idea, though. The metal of the frame absorbs a lot of the energy of the blast, so a little gun will kick and sting like hell.

There's an awesome documentary called Pink Ribbons, Inc. about the Susan G Koman foundation and the mass marketing or pinkwashing of breast cancer "awareness" products used as a cutesy marketing tactic to sell products to women. Corporations like Avon for instance, who is a huge "awareness" marketer, who's products contain ingredients that are known to cause breast cancer. Or carcinogen filled Kentucky Fried Chicken who did the Buckets for the Cure campaign.
It's pretty eye opening and you should totally watch it.

Remember all those pink sports jerseys? Because women couldn't possibly support their teams in their ACTUAL colors. Ugh. I never saw a grown woman wearing one, either. At least no Pittsburgh fans. A few little kids, but no adults.

And I thought that the push to make toy guns in bright colors was to prevent them from being mistaken for the real thing? Doesn't this sort of defeat the purpose?

I've seen this around but it's this browning camo that's pink, but now it's for wipes? It's on the same level as dude wipes for me. You don't need to add fancy names, logos, and patterns to things you wipe your ass with.

I can never get over just how ugly that camo is. I know that it's not really even supposed to be camo so it's pointless
