We Made It Pink, Now Buy It - Because women will buy anything if it's "girly" enough, right?

Why the fuck are my jeans so thin they wear out after a few months of use, why are they always blends and not straight cotton? Why are straps, buckles and laces always less durable?

Or that dry cleaning is fucking expensive - to the point I get my partner to take clothes in because inevitably we save $5-10 on the bill.

I am glad girly stuff exists for people who like it, but the fact the pink tax buys you less for your money infuriates me.

Why don't you just buy normal jeans instead of the shitty women's version?

It's the hello kitty that really makes this.
that's in southern California, originally posted to The Firearms Blog years ago. note the monsterman grip for regulatory compliance.

What's really amusing is that once upon a time, pink was for boys, and blue was for girls. I don't know when it changed.
1950's thereabouts, i think.

Say HELLO to... my little kitty 8)
very poor technique. there's a "Kalashnikitty" sticker out there as well. and efforts by some artisan to make "coutre" (Gucci, Prada, Chanel, et c) decorative artworks too.

is there any single benifit to pink tint?
none.

I would never walk into a shop with pink tools, I'd rather people take me seriously and with some old school tradesmen it's already hard enough as a chick.
women have been infantilized since forever.

Oh I thought this was going to be about how everything has a shitty pink version for breast cancer awareness that no one buys so it's always super discounted.

Band t-shirts in junior sizes. Because the unisex ones look like tents on me. The same designs aren't used most of the time. You get the band logo in some stupid flowery script and girly design even if it's a metal or punk band that mostly dudes listen to. And I still see Motley Crue and Ramones shirts like that and you know those girls who buy them couldn't name two songs. So they aren't being sold to fans. All I want is a size that looks good on me without it looking like it was made for a 14 year old trying to be retro or trying to copy Lady Gaga or the Kartrashian Jenner clan.

Do they still make those girl legos that are little houses and shops? They were always in the same pink and purple with almost no variety. And while they were awful at first eventually they got a bit better. But when I was a kid you just bought lego sets and buckets. There was no girl vs boy. Everyone played with the same sets.

Don't girls get tired of the same color? My toys were lots of different colors. Now it seems like they are mainly two or three at most.

An honorable mention that isn't material: When TV shows don't know how to appeal to women so they add a random birth or a rape story. Because that's what women like to watch, right? That's all that is relatable to us. Rape and having babies.

Hy huge issue with 'girly stuff's - pink or not - is that it costs more and is much less fit for purpose than male versions. Jeans and the lack of pockets for example.

I've noticed this with shoes. Especially winter boots. It looks like the men's boots are very sturdy while a lot of times the women's boots tend to be flimsy and made more for fashion. If you don't buy at the start of the season you may be left with few choices that are practical without shopping around a lot when you shouldn't have to. A few years back I saw a prediction of a blizzard and needed new boots since I thought my old ones wouldn't survive another arctic blast. I went to a pretty huge shoe store and they had a lot of boots. But most had heels and no lining and were pretty much fashion over function. I don't think I can walk through several feet of snow and treacherous ice with three inch heeled flimsy boots. The men's boots were actually functional looking and better made.

Fashion is bad too. Guys have it easy. But if I don't like what's in style now I have to root through racks a lot to find what I like. And you better stock up because something you like may not be in fashion next season. So you can't get more as easily. I like those skirts with the net trim underneath. I don't really see them anymore. Same with the ones that had the ruffle or lace trim underneath. Why? It looks nice. Who decides what is fashionable anyway? I don't care if I look trendy or not. I just want to wear what I like.

Back when that started in the nineties I begged and begged my parents for the pink sets because there was so much variety in the color pallete, lots of pastel accents.

Your basic sets and buckets were all primary colors, even getting green parts outside of scenery and baseplates was unheard of.

My parents always said "no, those are for girls."

Is this a Look Around You skit?
Yeah fam. I'd say the the mark of a good of a good parody is if you can't tell if it's real or not, but the after looking shit in this thread like Gucci rifles I'd be willing to believe the Petticoat 5 was real and successful in Europe or some shit.

Ah, Sears. What a beautiful sinking ship. In my store, Craftsman was the biggest offender of the pink pandering (which made sense, I suppose). There was even a contest where the winner would get a large, pink tool chest. What made it even tackier was that it was a collab with Harley Davidson.
A lot of the pink stuff was fairly innocuous, like carabiner clips and hand tool totes, but that pink Harley Davidson/Craftsman tool chest was extremely tacky. It wasn't even a super high quality tool chest.

Dungeons of Dredmor has a little joke about pink razors costing more in the form of the "Razor Sword For Her", which has the following description: "It's the exact same as the Razor Sword except it's pink and costs twice as much". Which oddly makes it better-sells for more and I think it has a slightly higher enchant capacity because of the markup, but whatever. Since I don't have any pink products to share I thought I'd share a joke instead.
