Twitter 9/29 - Chris rationalizes stealing fanart

Well, it's not like Chris has been shy about stealing other people's intellectual property before. There isn't a single original idea or character anywhere in Sonichu. It's rip-offs, recolors, and even the original characters all the way down.

Isn't Patreon supposed to feature only the stuff you make to entice people to pay you money? If people didn't know of Chris, seeing that artwork that isn't his MIGHT be enough to entice people to pay him for artwork unironically.

If that were to happen they'd quickly stop paying him once they see his real "artwork".

"Well, Sonichu and Rosechu are mine anyway so it doesn't matter."
Correct me if I'm wrong; The digital art world has a lot of gray areas in terms of copyright, but I'm pretty sure even if his copyright was useful (which it isn't) He can't legally claim fanart that he didn't make himself just because it happens to be of his characters. The fan artist holds a form of copyright/ownership on the piece itself, even if the characters in it are copyrighted. Basically, they just can't make money off of it without consent of the creators of the copyrighted character.
Of course, none of this matters when your dealing with a copyright infringing character in the first place. Chris' art is considered fan art by standard definition (because it's obviously derivative of 2 major franchise characters) though he'd never admit it, so he has even less right to steal another fan work of the same derivative character.

Chris gets away with stealing other people's art because he himself is infringing on someone else's intellectual property. It's hard to report art theft when the IP it's based on is stolen in the first place. This is one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to Chris. He's taken this guys art for years and used it on YouTube or whatever other project he is working on and never given credit to the guy.

Stay classy Chris.

I 'm surprised he stole fanart of a dude who draws Rosechu without blue stripes in her dress. He usually makes snide comments about fan art if even the tiniest detail is out of place. You'd think he would just re-draw the image and "correct" his errors so he can show everyone the "best version", but he's either too lazy, or, the least likely, he likes it better than his own artwork.

How does he not see the logical contradiction between the fact that he's saying someone else's fanart is in violation of HIS copyright, but he somehow believes his fanart itself isn't in contradiction of Sega and Nintendo's copyrights? I know this isn't new, and was revealed in the Asperchu saga, but it's not the violation of Sega and Nintendo that matters, (and to be fair they likely don't care about Sonichu)- but don't create a logical fallacy and then deny it to anyone else, and pretend like it only applies to you.

What if the other fanart creators claimed that their depictions weren't actually Sonichu and Rosechu, but rather in fact were some other OC "playing the role" of them - then would it be okay to Chris? Again, his own logic.

Or maybe the artist just has a true and honest china.
