Diseased The Fidget Spinner Community - "It's Not A Trend, It's A Way Of Life."

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
So the fidget spinner fad seems to be over already. I don't see people using them anymore and, at least where I live, they are clogging the shelves of basically every store that rushed to get stock of them. And now, no one wants them.

So it seems this fad had an even shorter shelf life than Pokemon GO.

Fucking good riddance

Glad to know. Yet I still seem them in the stores anyway so who knows how long before they're finally gone, any day now I suppose.

One should known it was over when gumball machines in the states had them for a quarter

For me the cincher is this fad is becoming part of the flourishing "autism culture" gaining ground on the internet. It's probably only a matter of time before Tumblr starts shitting out fanart of characters playing with the things as a form of stimming.

The stores where I live last I checked marked them all down to $5 (except for Chapters who stocks fidget cubes with a $30 asking price, and EB Games who has them for $15 still).

Even though the fad is dead the subreddit still has some activity. Like several new threads a day.

Someone bothers to care that damn much.

Yeah, I was just at the gas station last night getting a soda and up at the registers they had boxes of spinners with sale signs offering them "5 for $5". Can't even move them at $1 each now.

How did this fad get started in the first place? Literally they just hit my town one day and they were everywhere overnight.
I assume some YouTuber or TV show that wants to appear hip showed them and then a couple kids got them and it spread like the autistic plague. Or they just saw them online and it spread.

A local closeout store has several folding tables set up, hastily selling these out of plastic tubs. Two for ninety-nine cents.
I recently went to a store to find a plant hanger for my mom. At the checkout line they were selling the damn things for $9.99 each. Either they didn't get the memo or they're determined to get as much profit out of them as they can for as long as they can. Something tells me they'll still be there even after Christmas.
