I disagree, I think freedom of speech is a component of the conflict. When people are criticized, especially SJWs, their immediate response is "I have the right to my opinion!!!eleven". However, the argument isn't that they can't have an opinion, it's that their opinion expresses poor reasoning. If you express a shitty opinion, others will react. That's life. To expect otherwise is to assume you are the only person with an opinion to express.

No it isn't. It's an incredibly stupid, but very common, argument. "You can't say that I'm horrible for saying that, I'm entitled to my opinion."

Edit: How often have you heard someone say "You can't call me a bigot for thinking gay people shouldn't be allowed to get married, I'm entitled to my opinion!" or something to that effect. Using "I'm entitled to my opinion" to mean "You can't criticize me!" is like the most common stupid-person argument tactic going. If you're not familiar with it I envy you your peers because I live in what I consider to be a fairly intelligent city and I get that dumbfuckery all the time.

Apropos of nothing: a lot of people seem to fail to realize that "everyone'e entitled to their opinion" is intended as an insult to the person it's directed at. What the expression really means is "everyone is entitled to their opinion, no matter how stupid or uninformed it may be, so just allow this person their right to be wrong."

Freedom of speech has become a meaningless phrase because most people who bring it up don't bother to define what sort of context they're using it in (just like every other buzzword the SJWs like to throw around)

In regards to the 1st Amendment to the US Constitution - it specifically means that the government is not allowed to create laws that limit what its citizens are allowed to say or express. If someone holds a bigoted opinion and expresses it without the intent to cause harm to another person then they cannot be charged with a crime simply for having that opinion. Thought policing is a very slippery slope that is best avoided altogether, which is why the Bill of Rights exists.

The hypocrisy of SJW's on this is that they use "Freedom of Speech" as another "Check your privilege" and "It's not my job to educate you". That is as a means to shut down and suppress conversation and opinion that they don't like.

Like, if you are stating a true thing about yourself ("I don't like peppers") then it's a fact that you don't like peppers. If you're saying all peppers everywhere taste like day old shit then it's an opinion. "I prefer cats to dogs." Fact. "Dogs are cunts." Opinion.

Also, just because a statement is bigoted (and whether something is bigoted or not is, in fact, based on opinion) doesn't mean it's magically not an opinion anymore.

That kinda struck a nerve. Men do feel, and women seem to want and criticize it simultaneously.

I dont often announce an edit, but this time i should. I went and looked again, and i didnt make it very far before i had something to say. As a child, i covered my feelings. As an adult, i will not. I have never felt more alive and human and natural than i do when i cry. I dont even wipe my tears off my face when i cry. Im glad i can cry, honestly.

I really get pissed off at the whole "MEN'S PROBLEMS ARE REALLY WOMEN'S PROBLEMS" thing because it's making gender issues into a fucking contest. SJWs try to silence men's issue or fallback to the MRA strawmen and self-enforce sexism by claiming women are more deserving of having their problems considered and addressed.

There was one post in particular on tumblr pointing out that unrealistic standards of beauty exist for both genders and that men abusing steroids is just as bad women developing eating disorders. The SJWs went fucking nuts and started throwing around a bunch of bullshit about steroids not being dangerous and how men deserve to be objectified because their role as oppressors diminished the values of their thoughts and opinions.

Another interesting thing of note is how many women are completely unaware that all men in the US have to sign up for the draft once they turn 18.
