So he claims that his current healthcare plan is about 290 a month and is being raised to 390 a month "next year"
So back to the washington healthplan finder I go.
So currently in his area are no plans in the 290 range (that would make sense and would have been available last year. There's a blue cross bronze plan at 293 but he says he'd have to downgrade and you cant go down from bronze... so I dont think its that plan)
So lets see if there are any plans in the 390 range. (silver blue cross plan that's a higher cost than any other silver plan, much like the bronze plan, same provider... nope that's not it or at least I hope Phil's not so stupid as to purchase the highest cost silver plan there is. ) Nothing that is in the range he claims.
So either Phil is misrepresenting his income to get cheaper healthcare. (he said that his cost is going up because there's no government subsidy... ummm Phil, when you make 80k a year, you dont get a subsidy.) or he's misrepresenting how much he's paying.
As stupid as we think Phil is and he can be, i'm optimistic enough to think Phil's not misrepresenting his income to the government. And I also dont think Phil's dumb enough to purchase the highest priced plan with the least features. So what I believe is more lies from Phil about his healthcare. I think he's making up this 390 figure, and he's currently in a bronze plan. Do i think its way too much money to pay for a plan that gives you so very little? YES. But we're not here to debate healthcare costs. We're here to laugh at Phil. Is it possible that he's in a cheap silver plan and he thinks he's going to save tons of cash by downgrading to bronze? Perhaps. But seriously he needs to look at that silver Kaiser HMO plan that's there. Its very reasonably priced and gives Phil the most coverage for his dollar. And if what he's saying IS true, it saves him money over his current plan.
