NeoGAF & ResetERA - The Hilarious N̶e̶v̶e̶r̶e̶n̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ Splintering "Gaming" Forum Circus

He doesn't need to recover. Gafera's users can whine all they want, but in the end, Soret's still the one making fun games and being an active participant in the gaming industry who'll be taken way more seriously.
I'm going to be paying attention when The Last Night launches. How many reviews will mention the controversy (which is unknown outside of autism-land)? Will certain video-focused outlets (ie. Giant Bomb) avoid it? I've heard rumors that Giant Bomb is intentionally not doing a video of A Hat in Time because of Jon Tron's involvement.

Maya Kramer was at the PC Gamer show during E3 promoting a game (Tunic) she got hired to do PR for while Tim Soret was doing his own thing on stage. She basically called for a McCarthyist style blacklist against people like Tim in response to The Last Night blowing up into the controversy.

You can debate how much power these people have, but there are no shortage of vocal people who have platforms to slag on Tim. No one dares publicly speak up in defense or you become a target. It's far easier to not get involved and focus on your own shit. Just like so many industry people will casually condemn GamerGate as being horrible right after stating how they know nothing about it.

Bet it was a white mod banning a black poster for his thoughts about the n-word. I've seen ban messages with the duration on them. I'm assuming no duration means a perm?

I wish I could actually see who banned this person.
I was already writing an appeal to the site that I think this is an unjustified ban that should be rectified.
Makes me really angry.

Tim Soret is an actual game developer who is developing a game that looks pretty good.

I can’t seem to find any games made by Maya Felix Kramer.

I'm impressed, in spite of the fact that Neogaf practically imploded overnight, almost the entire Internet community celebrating it, and losing whatever sway they had over smaller developers, the fools over at ResetERA have not learned a single thing from the experience. They'll be just like Neogaf before that day, only way more zealous, way smaller (and continuing to shrink if they keep shedding members at such a ruinous rate), and way more powerless.

Not really: It's common knowledge that ResetEra is moderated by closeted racists who assume that blatant condescension is more righteous than animosity.

Don't stray from the narrative or you will be dealt with. So much for having any sort of discussion on a goddamn forum.

Tim is automatically better than any of these harpies because he is largely moving on with his life instead of pretending it is still mid 2014 like an insane person.

Class strife and oppressive government are definitely hallmarks of cyberpunk dystopia, but I wouldn't say treating them as the antagonist force is especially leftist in nature, and I definitely don't think this game looks like it's coming from the other side in any way. If anything it's a commentary on how neet culture becomes the oppressive government - different origin than the typical megacorps you see in Alien or Blade Runner maybe, but I see the theme as too much power run amok because its target demographic let it happen. Different origin, same shit. Left vs Right need not even be considered.

It makes sense the SJWs would ree at having their own ideas criticized, as if criticism of societal trends wasn't the entire fucking point of sci-fi as a genre.
I think this game's dystopic world may be already happening now.. NEETs are already creating constant outrage and ruining people's lives over hypocritical, petty shit..
Of course the permanent ban goes to the people who talk sense..

So far the only differences between REEsetEra & NeoGAF are the new forum software & them telling you which kind of wrong think you were banned for..
