Dutch Angel Dragons

Okay, so apparently I misheard. The million dollars was a fake bid someone made as a troll. My bad.

The suit still went fro about $10k to $11k, so still beyond overpriced in terms of fursuits.

Okay, yeah.

The history of 'crazy bids' in Furry is long. There was an art show auction at FC one time where a gryphon painting by artcow Goldenwolf gained a ten grand bid - massive today and especially back then. Word on the street was that the guy (another artist) that bought it waned to pay for her fancy wedding without incurring undue taxes. After falling out with her (inevitable with Goldenwolf) the painting is apparently gathering dust in his closet.

I doubt that's the case with this suit - the DAD fanbase is batshit.

:informative:

telephone has apparently created over a hundred of these fursuits, for the record. i've met them in person and frankly i don't really see the appeal.

They quote 100 hours for that? It's half done already, or are these things really that ridiculously detailed?
they're not, it shouldn't take a decent artist any more than three hours to do the sketch on your ref from scratch, and this ref already has the linework done. he's overcharging because he knows he can get away with it because dutch angel dragons are fucking spergs and immensely overrated

When Telephone goes out in a suit and "preforms" all she does is roll on the floor and squeak and it's just really embarrassing and yet the furries eat that shit up
Believe it or not, the majority of convention-going furries generally want to set the squeaker brigade ablaze.
a lot of people put some stupid squeaker in their mouth so they can act like telephone and it's kind of fucking obnoxious. they're called "squeakers" and more than a few furries are sick of their shit.

So like, does that mean people have to pay money for the "right" to even create a donut steel in the first place? Are there threats of lawsuits for people who create a character without "permission"?
the way a closed species works is that the only ways you "get" one is either by asking, adopting (paying) for a predesigned one, or sometimes they host events where they're just like "fuck it make your own let's see what people can make". sometimes it's less strict and they're closed in the sense that you can make one if you want BUT HERE'S ////RULES//// BECAUSE I'M FUCKING :autistic:!!!!!!!!!!!!

in cases like that you can make whatever the fuck you want except for these arbitrary limitations.

Admittedly I'm way too grossed out by furries to spend much time reading their drama, but it's incredibly amusing to watch them call each other exceptional or crazy. The comments on the reference art was a ride..View attachment 311007

One of the things that seems to crowd the art-based lolcows out of the market now is indeed the globalization of furry art. $150 to a decent artist who might put you off for months due to cirrhosis of the soul, or something.... Or half that for next-day good digital art from someone in Russia/Asia/South America.

I'm still waiting for art from someone I paid like... christ almost half a year ago at this point.

It's even listed as "completed" in their trello but it's just the sketch. (:_(

Yup, though I've seen less than decent charge as much as professional for "meh" art, and still run into one of these following problems resulting in not completing their work

1. "guyz i'm feeling depressed everyone hates me, i hate everything and therefor plz give me an extra 4 months to just complete a sketch"
2. "guyz i realized that trying to survive on my subpar art is not paying my billz and now we have 'no food in the fridge'(a line i've seen way too often in journal entries)
3. "guyz i just need moar money so i'm going to do different commissions in a stream and just ignore my backlog"
4. "guyz my family hates me so i run away no i have no moeny and no job"

But on a side note, I hate it when artists are just so irresponsible with their money that they resort to begging like that and it pisses me off even more when they have pets, their own lack of responsibility are putting actual animals at risk

"but muh responsibility is a social construct"

But yeah, I also find it funny that many furries have the weird obsession with japan and its kemono shit, when in reality none of these white bread burgers who have hardly worked a day in their lives would survive a week in Japan's culture of hardwork with little payoff

that's something many weaboos found out that hard way when they attempted to work in Japan

The best artists are the ones that just take a bunch of commissions and then fuck off for a year with no contact.

It's sort of :offtopic: but most foreigners are probably going to just do something like English teaching and that's basically Disneyland compared to "typical" Japanese work life. Stuff like manga drawing even is brutal and the pay is peanuts unless you're lucky to get into the big weekly magazines, but then you've got serious deadlines.

Asian artists in particular seem to be getting big, especially with their distinct styles, image uploaders on imageboards and E621 discovering pixiv and their use of western social media platforms, namely Twitter. I've even some Asian artists migrating to furaffinity, Tumblr, and Patreon since they can get commission work easily there. They have a reputation of giving you what you pay for (both with regards to actually getting the image and in the quality) while usually avoiding fandom drama.

Many of them (from Japan at least) don't even have good or any English skills (outside of Google Translate), all they need to do is draw a Pokemon with a big dick on it and followers will come.

At this point the only thing keeping artcows in business (especially the ones who can't draw for shit or who have issues actually delivering) for the most part are niche fetishes, especially ones that other artists keep turning down.

Anyone remember the mid-2000's boom of adoptables?
Yes. It was hella spergy, kids still do adoptables but ask for real fucking money now it's a crazy ass fucking biz and ludicrous how easy it is to get money. I suggested to a kiwi that we try to game the adoptable market that had a crazy rng-based spoils system which you can sell shit just by buying fake, paint-by-colours animals for a couple bucks or even through begging. Turns there is literally nothing stopping you from producing millions of shit artworks and then gaming the system on the randomly dropped items, sometimes the items dropped will literally be worth $$$$ simply because people are willing to buy this shit.

I could write out a whole game plan for this.

These Dutch Dragons are the tip of the iceberg, I've seen other things go for over $2k and people making livings off of this.

Actually since the adoptables thing is mentioned, there's also a rule on the site about them, and the whole specifics on making DaD adoptables.

It's like Neopets or some shit, but furfaggotry instead.

wtf is this thing about "randomly dropped items"

Let me explain.

  1. Buy an Adoptable that's in an Adoptable RPG. Seen mostly in dA.
  2. Draw a picture, send it to the group's page
  3. Some unpaid mook goes and accepts it and gives you an item for completing a task.
  4. Sell that item and the fake cash they give you for real money.
  5. Congrats you are getting easy money.

They will accept any drawing as long as it follows the guidelines, usually just asking for a background and a full body image. If you have a whole group of people just constantly grinding out images supporting eachother in a chain then you can clean house very easily. Most of these groups are highly unorganised and it's all about buying your way through.
