This was from a few years ago, but yes. Look how he creams himself over the film. "The winter is so beautiful and so pretty and sparkles and oooh..."
Of course Doug would like Frozen, it's just safe enough for his mindset.

Yet, when I see it, I see semi-outdated CGI (and this is after Wreck-it Ralph, mind you), mindless song numbers and a r.etard snowman.

Did anyone here ever read FilmBrain's written reviews? I can't seem to find them now that the original TGWTG site is buried but there was one in particular that stood out to me. It was a somewhat negative review of Fantastic Mr. Fox, and the comments were full of people that said stuff like, "Oh, I'm glad I didn't see this!"

I found it after seeing a few of his videos and after that I kinda stopped since you have to be soulless not to like Fantastic Mr. Fox.
Is he the same one who also, controversially, gave Inglourious Basterds a negative review but Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen a somewhat positive one back when he did written reviews? I remember that being a thing that happened, and someone else on the site flipping their lid over it, but that might be the mandela effect at work...

Since there's no thread for it and TFS consists of TGWTG alumni, I figured I'd post this travesty.

The voice acting, while above par for the most part, is undermined by really shitty characterization and cringy writing. It's well known that Final Fantasy machinimas are a swirling pit of autism but the interesting thing about this one in particular is that it's being conducted by dub industry professionals and actors involved in actual anime, so from a pure quality perspective it's probably the best you could hope for out of a parody-machinima of Final Fantasy 7. I've mostly been watching it since I've never played the game before and so far the only actor & characterization combo I like is Cait Sith, who is voiced by Nick Landis. Cait Sith and Mog are so far the only not-insufferable characters and Nick Landis actually pulls off the role effectively, much to my surprise. Skip to episode 16 at the 4:33 mark if you want to see it. His portrayal of Cait Sith is very reminiscent of Ed Wynn. This one portrayal is the one saving grace of the whole shebang.

Wait? He gave Inglourioue Basterds a bad review? Someone sic the Bear Jew on him! That movie is fucking awesome!

I'll even watch the guy who does the top 5/worst 5 videos because he seems likable at least. The rest of that channel is forgettable which is kind of sad because I used to watch videos on TGWG weekly and Channel Awesome is not so great.

Cross posted from Lindsey's thread to keep it on topic.

Anyone else actually enjoy Walter's videos? I actually quite enjoy his top 5 best/worst vids as he seems to have solid reasons behind his picks and often has my personal favourites in a lot of his lists in at least the honourable mentions list.

Nobody went to see that movie.

It barely broke even on box office takings.

Oops.
I haven't seen a lot of Walter's work but I like everything he's done so far. He at least knows what he's talking about, his videos aren't too long and he gives good reasons for why he has his picks. That and his videos don't look that bad.

Okay I have to admit. I like Frozen. I can see why people hate it but I'm not going to lie, I like it. Tangled is still way better though. I hated Doug's criticism on Tangled, by the way. Complaining because famous people did the voices? Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi were fine. Famous people did the voices of Frozen too.

I do actually enjoy Doug's Disneycember reviews tbh.

So whatever happened to Oancitizen? His review of The Discovery Of Heaven was the last thing I ever liked by him and then I heard he got all pissy with Brad Jones. Also whatever happened to Paw? I miss his Music Movies reviews.

He went full SJW and couldn't handle that Brad Jones was the better reviewer of indie schlock shit. As for Paw, he had a kid with Lindsay Ellis' vampire friend and I assume he got a real job.

He had a kid with Maven, though since she goes around claiming how she's asexual, some people suggest he was cucked by her.

Good for him, then. (Paw) I actually liked his work and his Music Movies videos were at least entertaining. Not sure what to say about Maven though. Some of her vampire videos are okay at least.

He did also do a two-part video review of RotF where he trashed it. To be fair to him, I liked RotF the first time I watched it. However, I was also fourteen.

IIRC his reason for giving Revenge of the Fallen a higher score was because he went "I went in expecting a dumb action movie, I got it, so it fulfilled my desire." I forget why he was against Inglorious Basterds but I feel like he wouldn't be saying it now in today's political climate.

Yeah, which is why reading the comments saying they were glad they didn't see the movie bothered me at the time, since to me it seemed FilmBrain helped contribute to it not getting the attention it deserved.

Now I think it wouldn't have mattered much; I don't think anyone here was really aware he reviewed it in the first place so whatever impact he may have had is negligible (the commenters weren't excited about it so they weren't going to see it anyway). Plus the movie has become a cult classic in recent years, and I'm okay with that since it means people are watching it.

Either way though, he still gave the movie a negative review and convinced people not to see it. I wish I could find it again so I could see what he said about it (I haven't seen that review in maybe 6 years so I remember fuck-all about it).

and if what Brad said was true,Jake was a hypocrite, raging against pedophilia but still dating teenager girls...

Took me a bit to dig up but here is the counterclaim.

Well, assuming Paw is just so good he can fix asexuality, it is a strange kind of heartwarming to see some of those folks forge some kind of normalcy in their lives.

So is Linkara's wife an anime girl on the site or something? I was catching up with a lot of Bennett's reviews I hadn't seen in awhile and Linkara guest starred a few times with what seems to be his woman making off screen comments (usually yelling or scolding Linkara so... no surprise there).
