The skits are ungodly unfunny. For me, the first time they were ever used was the breaking point. It felt too much like Demo Reel.

The illusion first broke during either Scooby Doo or To Boldly Flee, whichever came first, when I realized that Doug both took himself very seriously and didn't have the writing chops to justify it.So, to change the subject, for people who were originally into Doug Walker's stuff, what was the video that broke the illusion for you, and saw him for the hack that he is?
For me it was Scooby Doo where I began noticing problems, but the Man of Steel and King and I were also strong contenders. The Old vs New Spiderman vid is what officially killed him for me. (But even before that, his Thief and the Cobbler review was the first video where I didn't end up either liking or agreeing with him).
He did. It was their "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" sins video. Doug's got a real hateboner for that movie which he has expressed multiple times.
One of the less entertaining cinemasins videos:
EDIT: Ninja'd goddamnit
Don't listen to Doug Walker. He's just a nostalgically-biased manchild who can't accept change. The only reason he hates every single remake of the films from his childhood is because "WAHHHH MUH CHILDHOOD!!!"/"THIS ISN'T THE ORIGINAL!!!!"
You know, I just remembered something else about that review that really pissed me off. It was when he criticized Adam Sandler fans for liking jokes where you just said a dirty word and they laughed at it, and he demonstrated it by yelling, "Poop!" to a bunch of Sandler fans. And I recall in his Cat in the Hat review he had Peter Soulless gleefully mention "Poop jokes galore!" when talking about crappy kids movies. Then Eight Crazy Nights was -I hate to use this word but- mean-spirited, to the extent he was attacking fans of a thing instead of the thing itself, which put me off him.
Sailor Moon made me realize Doug is actively disinterested in researching shit he didn't grow up with. Though I didn't quit for good until Alice in Wonderland, but oddly it was Tamara which made me leave. She was just that annoying. Sometimes I wonder how long I would've stuck with him if she wasn't there but then I remember I am, of course, better off this way.
someone probably already posted that vid here but ok
just putting this here if anyone wants to know.
I'm just going to leave this here:Motherfucker, you've been doing shit jokes for years. You don't get to criticize someone else for doing the exact same thing as you. For God's sake, one of the gags in his Jungle 2 Jungle review was showing a literal picture of shit.
Sailor Moon made me realize Doug is actively disinterested in researching shit he didn't grow up with.
Or, at the very least, make the disconnect between age and media the comedic angle. Y'know, "What the Sam Hill am I watching?"Since you brought it up, is there a good example of a reviewer who also didn't grow up with a cartoon or other piece of "nostalgic" media who did research the subject matter? I know that's the kind of thing we usually rag on people for, but if you at least do your homework that puts you leagues above Doug in my books at least...
Why does he sound always so racist/xenophobic when he talks about other countries?
I haven't gotten over all the video, but so far I'm surprised there's no Putin sperging.
Really Strider? No mention of probably the best Russian cartoon out there?

I never really started to notice problems Doug's Stuff until i fell out. it just all felt the same after a while and that wasn't enough to keep me interested. I can barely remember any of his videos and I am pretty sure I've watched all of them up until the scooby doo review. I tapped out on channel awesome crowd some time after Doug's attempt to end Nostalgia Critic back in 2012.So, to change the subject, for people who were originally into Doug Walker's stuff, what was the video that broke the illusion for you, and saw him for the hack that he is?

Looking back on it, I wonder myself how i was still a channel awesome fan after kickassia. its embarrassingly bad.Kickassia was the very moment I was done with Doug's shit as a whole. I sat down to watch it and came out of it with nothing but sheer annoyance.
