No, her number is on her website. That said, seems like if you wanted her to perform you'd just call her up, leave a message and...right, right...chances are he wouldn't even think of that pretext and just texted her some crazy creepy comment about how hot she is or something.

TL:biggrin:R she's a performance artist and her number is on her website. Link in bio.

Thank you for clarifying. I don't use facebook/instagram/twitter etc, so I only go off of what I see in screen captures.

I'm not sure what to think about this.

I imagine the card will read something like...

"I know what it is like to fight for your life. Taylor Swift LITERALLY tried to kill me because I made an effort and she didn't acknowledge it. She ruined my life, like the church shooter ruined yours. I hope you'll read my book and give it five stars.

PS. If you don't respond in the exact way I want, I'll sure you next."

Seems the kid is either asking for $1 (presumably to help cover his $200k+ hospital bill) or a picture of a pet. I feel like a dick for thinking Russ has some sort of motive here, but it's honestly hard not to suspect something's up after following this thread long enough.

I looked to see if he commented but it's a toxic bunch of screeching lunatics trying to turn a little boy's Christmas wish into a gun issue or a race or religion issue. He'd probably be the most sane thing in that comment section.

I don’t think Russ is going to do jack shit for that kid, he just wanted SM nice guy points.

I’ll believe Russ sent the kid $1 in a card if he posts a photo of said card with a stamped envelope. Knowing Russ he’d put .50 in the card, then point out since a stamp is.50 he really did spend a whole dollar.

Then you factor in the cost of the card and the envelope...

It's the middle of the night here. He's likely asleep and doesn't want anyone posting something on his wall criticizing him or otherwise telling the truth about how shitty he is.

Yeah, 4am here, depending on how manic he is, he's been up pretty late chimping before. All I can think is those days maybe he passes out from exhaustion before he can close down his account.

NPDs tend to engage in "splitting" as a defense mechanism. Those who fail to do and think and speak whatever the narc wants them to, are not failing out of just being people or polite disagreement; they're doing it to be mean, to spite the narc, to resist the only authority narcs acknowledge (i.e., their own).
Are you talking about a cow or the 2016 election?

Yes.

Though in the instant case, I'm talking about why Russ would abandon ship on Mormonism despite being treated like a demigod. He doesn't believe in God because God doesn't validate his every whim, as he discovered when called out on hiring hookers and visiting strip joints during his mission. Therefore, trash! Burn and bury!

Just like how Santa didn't bring Chris a girlfriend...

He had a bishop give him a dose of reality when he said Russ may never find a companion in this life. Much like Facebook, he blocked the church when it didn’t massage his ego.

Talking to a Mormon friend about this whole thing, and he thinks there were probably three types of Mormons who interacted with Russ:

1 - People who bought the "literal angel" bullshit. He stressed that this isn't a normal thing in Mormon circles. People who are not able to control their own actions are said to be immune from sin, (the phrase he used was "Not Accountable,") but they are not USUALLY believed to be angels. However, some people had probably heard that Mormon urban legend and thought it applied to him. He thinks this camp was probably actually pretty small. The "doctrine" on the angel thing is that the people who are afflicted clearly don't have any sort of free agency, while Russ clearly does. He also thinks that if people DID think this, they probably didn't think that for long. He also pointed out under this same line of reasoning that they wouldn't have excommunicated Russ if the Bishop of his congregation thought that Russ was not responsible for his actions.

2 - People who were simply kind to Russel because he is disabled. Mormons believe in being good to people who are "less fortunate" than they are, and so they were probably willing to be a little nicer and give him the benefit of the doubt because he DOES have legitimate issues, even if they don't think he's an angel.

3 - People who were not interested in coddling Russ and insisted that he stop being an asshole, because his disability doesn't prevent him from being a decent person.

I can't believe I didn't see it until now. The dollar is some SovCit level legal woo. He probably thinks if she accepts the dollar, that makes his offer for a date legally binding

He probably got it from a unit in contract law. In Common Law countries (the USA uses a modified and localized form of Common Law), any agreement can be a contract, but only certain contracts can be legally binding. IANAL and this is all from memory so excuse any mistakes.

$1/£1 is the smallest denomination that can be used as consideration in a contract. A contract, to be legally binding, must have several elements:

1. Parties that are legally competent and able to freely give consent without coercion or duress. Minors, intoxicated or persons judged to be legally incompetent cannot enter into a binding contract.

2. A lawful object. If I wanted to sell someone a kilo of cocaine, and they gave me a duffel bag of cash and it was less than the agreed upon price, I couldn't file a civil suit for the remainder, as cocaine is illegal to possess or traffic.

3. Consideration. Both parties must get something of value.

4. Clear terms of fulfillment. If I loaned a deadbeat $2000 and I told them to pay me back when they can, It wouldn't stand up in court, as there are no clear terms, and no reasonable expectation that I will be able to recover the money.

For example, if I were rich and old and had several houses and a particularly deserving nephew who was 33, I could give one to him, but it would be much easier if I were to sell him the property and the title for $1.

The elements are all there: He and I are both legally competent. The house is a lawful object. $1 is consideration (he gets a house, I get a dollar, we both get something), and there are clear terms of fulfillment- the contract is fulfilled when the sale closes and the title transferred.

cRusty thinks that if the girl takes his dollar, that's his magic ticket to make his date offer legally binding.

However, it fails all 4 tests- he is deceiving the girl and threatening her with defamation if she does not accept his offer, a date cannot be specified as a particular service or quantified via monetary value, and there is no clear definition under which one can define a "date" as having been performed.

TL;DR: cRusty thinks that if the girl accepts his Venmo dollar, she is entering into a legally binding contract to go on a date with him. That isn't the case because reasons.
