Its fascinating to see the intersection of gamergate, kiwi farms, encyclopedia dramatica and the alt-right. They have many overlapping members and very similar tactics.
And im saying that much of this overlap and intermingling was deliberate on the part of key people involved. Someone wanted an army of internet psychopaths.
And someone wanted a devout group of violent young men who could also be easily parted with their money. A lot of these people are subject to a lot of scams and marketing designed to part them with their disposable income.
A lot of them are gamers, gamers can be marketed to. A lot of them fall into free market libertarianism and their environment is rife with scammers. Alex Jones and the like market pills to solve problems that dont exist.
While everyone to some degree is affected by cultivated identity and the marketplace of ideas, these people have been overwhelmed by it and have had their emergent identities consumed by it like a cancer thats killed the host.
Im not trying to make you feel pity for them, i have none for them whatsoever. But they must feel very hollow and empty right about now. They keep spending money and giving people social capital and they still feel empty
This feeling is what makes them even more vulnerable to being pushed into doing darker and darker things because they get told that this feeling is being caused by an "other" and whoever that other is must be destroyed
Right now were seeing the phase of memetic infection that involves them being pushed to hate the other. More and more violence will come out of this sector of people. Nothing they do will fill that void so they will continue on the path they are on.
At this phase there is no way to really reach them with words. You can only oppose them with force because force is all they will show you. Are there individuals who might turn away? Sure and you should try to peel away as much support from them as you can.
But you must absolutely be prepared to stop using words and start responding with force. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. Absolutely prepare for the worst. Because its likely.
Look at that kiwifarms member who shot those kids. Look at his statements. He couldnt stand to live in a world that had queer people, brown people, women who stood up for themselves etc. He blamed them for his problems in life.
Because he was a weak person who couldnt accept responsibility or control over his own life and choices, it was easy to blame others. Thats the thing is that these people at the core are weak. Weak and unwilling to accept responsibility.
People who arent weak? They accept responsibility for their lives, even when events out of their control happen. "I could have prepared for emergencies better" or "i could have reacted to this better" even while acknowledging it might not be your fault that it happened.
They accept some measure of responsibility when bad things happen. And doing this lets you prepare better in the future, its how you grow. You learn CPR. You create emergency savings. You use your seat belt more often. etc
And the things that are completely out of your control? You learn to accept them. You accept that you have no power over the situation and you keep living.
These alt-right gamergate types? They dont do that. The never grow. They never accept responsibility. This is why they are mostly incompetent. because their ideology prevents them from learning lifes hard lessons.
