Telling a friend, who's scared that her ex might come get her, "you sure know how to pick 'em" is a dick move (although he might not be wrong if that's a pattern for her but you just don't say that in a situation like that). But it doesn't really prove that Landis is a turborapist or women beater or whatever they're so vaguely implying.

I think at the end of the day Max Landis is probably a huge douche due to essentially being a nepotized trust fund baby, and at the best of times he acts and pontificates from on high like his shit doesn't stink. Nevertheless, I kind of see what he was trying to say here, although his timing was bad and he could have expressed it differently.

I think we've all had that friend that is a terrible picker-- heck, a recent example of it is Jacquelyn Glenn and Social Repose. She can't pick a decent man to save her life. And she needs (and I think is, more importantly) trying to figure out why she does that, why she keeps getting together with terrible men. That is what I think he was trying to say. That doesn't excuse what Social Repose did in any way. It just means that Jacquelyn, and Max's friend, need to figure some things out. That is not victim blaming, it is "Girl, you need to get your shit together." So of course that is being translated into "OMG MAX IS A RAPE CULTURE SUPPORTER, REEEEEE."

Having said that, it would appear that Hollywood is full of sexual perverts (like we didn't already know), so it wouldn't surprise me if he was one. I think it is interesting, though, that the only thing that has come out of this particular campaign against him has been whispered slurs and side-eyes.

The stuff from Zoe and her friend (let's pretend for a second this is a regular human and not Zoe) might just be well intentioned as corroborating evidence, but it has the effect of muddying the waters if anything real regarding Max himself is out there. "The abusive ex took over her phone and posted as her, Max believed it and then was insincere and victim blaming even after he knew the truth" only exposes him as acting like a jerk and he has admitted to worse in his own interviews (treating his own gf very cruelly)

Zoe mentions additional information but this is what she's put forward and I get the strong vibe it's all she has so if something real is out there hopefully it comes out. It would be bad (though not unlikely) for him to get hung out as a sexual abuser on the basis of being a bad friend, and likewise not good for people to able to point at this and say "see, it was nothing" if there is something.

The most damning thing is that he hasn't responded.

Personally feel more like a voyeur acting like I need to pass judgement on this stuff than most things, I think it's good that people are digging into ensconced and powerful men who might be doing this systematically like Dan Schneider (allegedly)- with people like Max I'll keep tabs just outta salacious interest.

I totally agree. He's an entitled, egotistical ass (always blaming the audience, studio, director for his scripts failing like they're the best thing put on paper since Shakespeare or something. I don't doubt studios mess with shit but come on, Max, you're not as big of a writing genius as you'd like to think. People just don't care about your shit as much as you do) And the lady seems...unstable as well. I want to give her the benefit of the doubt about the whole "they pick me and I have no say in this whatsoever even though I'm an emancipated, strong, intelligent woman" it's probably just poor wording because she was in a stressful situation.

I don't know about that. I'd imagine most PR and legal teams would advice anyone accused of everything to not admit or deny anything on social media. While shit is this vague it's probably best to not say anything.

I find max landis interesting because he reminds me of myself we have similar thought patterns from what i've seen i would probably just be a less attention seking version of him if i was in the same position he was and thats part of the reason i dislike him. Even if he is a dick i dont think that its something he doesnt understand, he gets that people are flawed and this witch hunt on twitter over him being a flawed person is insane.

Also this may just be my utmost cynicism and contempt for the whole socially connected journo-blogger network thing that LA (and NY, London, Sanfran etc) have regarding how they and a bunch of writers, tech hipsters, and general rich kids are all friends who party together and who will gladly spin shit dishonestly in their outlets to do another friend in the network a favour, but It would honestly not surprise me one fucking iota if these non-accusation accusations and the past twoish years of hatred by the wokesphere against Landis was due to him calling fucking Rey a mary sue and accidentally upsetting the narrative a bunch of them were trying to create.

So, so far, the only evidence that there is of him doing anything wrong is some skanks making vague comments and some freak that keeps text logs in case she can use them to publicly shame people in the future?

It hasn't even been revealed what they're accusing him of doing.

Max is terrible at his job and only has one because of his Dad but I'm not seeing muchhere. Most of the stuff is "I've heard stories from other people" but I haven't seen any direct accusations. And a lot of the people on Twitter leading the charge would say and do anything for some online relevance.

Reading through some of those texts and listening to interviews he comes across like a spoiled dick. But I imagine a lot of twenty-somethings with family money in Hollywood are the same.

Also that text exchange doesn't account for their relationship. Is this some really close friend of Max or just some casual acquaintance who hit him up for attention? Not to defend the guy but he's probably got some power in Hollywood and I'm sure has a bunch of people trying to be his friend so they can get jobs. Maybe this is just a person who's just been crying to him for years about evil guys and he's tired of her act.

We saw with fucking Ghostbusters 2016 how fucking obsessive and pathetic the "woke critic" types and blogger-journos got in defending an embarrassing shitheap, not just trying to claim it was some masterpiece and giving it (briefly) a 90% on rotten tomatoes (now at 80ish), not just declaring all its critics to be icky subhuman misogynurd trash, not just trying to spin its box office bomb as some unqualified financial success...but actively and directly trying to fuck shit up for anyone vaguely high profile who criticised the movie.

Fucking James Rolfe, the most tepid, controversy free, and inoffensive internet critic out there was smeared immediately as a disgustingly pathetic creep when he said "this movie looks stupid so I wont see it" and for months afterwards was lambasted as some fanatically misogynistic monster for this criticism in articles. Hell. right up till the dawn of Trumpocalypse random outlets were still sneering about how scummy and despicable he is

Rolfe is just some fucking internet nurd though. Landis however is one of them, and thus his criticism was not just heresy but a flat out fucking betrayal in their eyes. And ever since he made these criticisms he has been increasingly lambasted and attacked by the clique, right up to this month where two big things have happened.

a) Star Wars 8 came out and despite the usual "STUNNING AND BRAVE SO PERFECT AND IMPORTANT AND PROGRESSIVE AND DIVERSE AND FUCK DRUMPF!!!" crusade by media outlets, the audience was either meh or loathed it, leading to a massive drop in profits after the first 10 days.

b) Max Landis's movie is out on netflix and despite critics despising it, is doing pretty damn well, has a high audience score, and a confirmed sequel by the studio.

In all honesty, I think these two factors have caused some seriously enraged pants-shitting behind the scenes in Zoe Quinn's fringe of the clique, and thus she and her friends are now just frantically throwing shit at Landis to try and sabotage his movie.

Hell, the language of this Daily Beast article on the subject just screams to me that the usual suspects in the journo/writer/SJW hipster clique are out for his blood.

There is no one actually making an accusation against him. It just shits on his movie and then promotes Zoe Quinn's twitter account the rest of the way.

If you're wondering why this was written, my guess is that he's thirsty as fuck for Zoe. Just a quick search of his Twitter account shows him riding in on his horse to white knight her when Notch called her a cunt.
