Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Personally I think it's cute that scott thinks mark is happy about his performance, it is incredably rare for an actor to shit talk a movie they're in unless it bombs. Consider that Mark didnt tell anyone Darth vader was luke's father and you get a feel about how upset he is about this movie if he's even hinting at it.

I can't really figure out how to copy/paste tweets but lolcows arthur "it ends tonight" chu and Dan Olsen are shitposting about how much the fans suck for not liking the movie in scotts thread.

I suppose they are the worlds leading experts in resenting popular backlash.

So I saw the movie expecting to hate it and I liked it quite a lot.

The main criticisms I see thrown around, I feel, are completely misrepresented. People see what they want to see. The only major criticism that rings true is that Po is an idiot and his head should be on a pike after he nearly got everyone killed on 3 separate occasions - the fight with the Dreadnought that didn't actually matter, the plan that led to vital information falling into the hands of the enemy, and trying to prevent everyone from evacuating with a mutiny. Yet it's all 'Dohoho, that's just Po!'... I really don't get it.

So, the followup commander's hair was a purple haired woman, big woop. he idea that men are brave but stupid, noble but triggerhappy, powerful but overconfident, etc. isn't exactly a new theme. Finn faced down his old boss, a woman, and stood tall over her as she fell into space. Rei interpreted Luke too literally and got made a full of, and then in her first lesson started heading straight into the dark. Then she pursued it even knowing deep down what the answer was, a completely selfish risk. Just about everything women did in this movie was all about nurture and just about everything men did in this movie was all about being a force of nature. If anything it reinforced current gender norms!!!

...is what I would be saying if I were being a hypocrite. People are just reading too much into the movie, and it speaks a lot to the state of politics that people are turning into a fucking battleground issue. (Mostly the right, though. They did the same shit with the new Wolfenstein.) I appreciate RLM's take on it which is more that they're apathetic about Star Wars at this point and they just want to make fun of fanboys.

The major problem I have with the film is mostly from a structural standpoint as it is rather bullshit that Holdo gives Po Dameron a dressing down about going to give a dressing down about reckless actions then to go recklessly hyperdrive the ship into the fleet. Why didn't she do that in the first place and save the vast majority of the fleet? Why didn't she tell a hotheaded commander like Po Dameron the plan? That would not only keep him on board to not cause a mutiny, but would also prevent Finn and Rose to go onto an action that would end up exposing the transports, which by the way the smuggler shouldn't even know about because Finn and Rose weren't aware of the plan. The humor of the movie works against it with most points of humor going to undermine the emotional levity of the scene. Not to mention, what is the point of blowing up the bridge with Leia? To show she can be Super Leia to never mention it again? The fact she is bed ridden in most of the film makes that whole scene pointless and takes away from the fact that most major players in the resistance have just died.

Why should we really care how Kylo Ren turned to the dark side when all is explained that Snoke got to him, where the hell did this guy come from? How was this man able to turn Ben Solo to the darkside while he was in the Jedi Academy? Where the hell did the rest of jedi that Kylo Ren captured went to? Not to mention it is rather comical the way that Snoke died in the film going into a grand speech about how he cannot be betrayed and he sees everything but he couldn't see the lightsaber being turned on him.

I am sorry, I am glad you can like this film, but so many problems as a legit film has undermined alot of my enjoyment of it so like I said, go enjoy the movie along with half of the internet, I will continue to dislike it or perhaps one day be meh with it.

Is it funny or sad that the Kiwi Farms thread on the movie is more polite and accepting of everyone else’s opinion on the film, good or bad, while everywhere else people are just screaming and insulting each other over it?

Admitting our bottomless hatred instead of pretending to love everyone keeps us human.

The fucking kiwi farms of all places knows better than to call someone an alt-right manbaby or a racist homophobic abuse enabler because of their opinions on a Star Wars movie.

That's kinda sad.

I'm surprised people bring up that people are unhappy with the film due to political motivations. I just thought that it just made no sense, character motivations, character personalities, plot points, plot holes. If people think the movie is fine and it's just political idelogy at work, maybe the film industry in general is in worse shape than I thought.

The political ideology is definitely an issue. But it's not the issue. Like -- The China Syndrome is a blatant clot of anti-nuke propaganda, but it's a genuinely fantastic movie: tautly paced, brilliantly acted, exceedingly well-written.

The Last Jedi is fucking dreadful. It's like the anti-China Syndrome.

SJWs drag politics into everything and see everything as problematic so of course they'll do the same with Star Wars. Especially since their interracial gay porn crashed and burned and the main female character dared to show some compassion for the evil white guy they have a raging hateboner for.

I seriously wonder how much longer Dobbo and his fellow fedora feminists are going to keep defending the movie for, especially since I hear a couple other SJW rags have now put out clickbait whining about the movie.

I'd give it until the New Year. Then a bunch of clickbait writers will "suddenly" realize the movie's "problematic."

Don't you like it when people who throw temper tantrums because you used the wrong pronoun tell you to grow up ?

What about Kylo is remotely man-childish? Is it because he reminds them too much of Trump for being white or some shit like that?

If anything, Kylo actually seems more relatable than Darth Vader in my eyes.
