Why actually try and create a new diverse hero or villain character when you can just take a character, make them fat/ugly/both, and make all the focus about their diversity traits, like how they'll never shut up about being gay or how men need to be slaughtered because women are oppressed.

All that's needed in this autism fest are people not only taking this shit storm seriously, it's also thinking that somehow, not having the cancelled line up of comics means Nazis are winning and online articles saying how neckbeards in comic fandoms are ruining comics.
With things like websites having scans and such, the whole praise for the comics isn't going to do much compared to loss of profit. In the end, a company like Marvel cares about making money off whatever their writers and artist can make. Even if something is loved by many, unless it rakes in money and not just praise, Marvel isn't really going to keep that around.

SJW's never buy shit period, you can make stuff to appeal to them and even turn away your old audience to appeal to them, but you won't last long since they'll move onto the next big thing and they'll expect you to keep doing what you are doing at a financial loss.

Probably has something to do with a whole generation of social outcasts who'd sooner steal comics (and cartoons) from the Japanese than actually go to a store and buy homegrown American ones. That's what me and my friends in high school did, in between video games and not getting laid.
Hell, have kids even bought comics since the 90s or is it all just pandering to neck and leg-beards now? Because if these companies are banking on 18-35 year olds buying about 20 minutes of reading time for $5-10 bucks a pop just fucking close up shop now. Their base is already spending their time and money better on video games, streaming, and stealing shit.

For all the dumb things DC do, I can at least take comfort in the fact that it's impossible for them to be as exceptional as Marvel is if they tried.

20 minutes? Maybe for a trade paperback. The weekly ones that are bread and butter are more like a five minute read, and 90% of the time nothing happens in them.

DC has shown that it has at least learned from the New 52 debacle. We shall see if C.B. learns from the mistakes of Alonso. The mass cancellations of the SJW titles were a good start, but a lot of Alonso's cronies still have their jobs and I fear they may try to undermine any effort to get Marvel back on track.
For all the things people say about Dan DiDio, the guy has a degree of likability that Alonso never came close to. Same for Geoff Johns, who can still come off as a fanboy whereas Alonso and Broovert are hipster fags trying to appeal to millennials who pirate their product.
Disney certainly did not buy Marvel for the comics. I only pray that the MCU does not fall prey to the social justice/identity politics nonsense, but part of Spider-Man: Homecoming had me concerned and I have a bad feeling about Black Panther and Captain Marvel.
