Culture The Hollywood Sex Pest Megathread - America saw Yewtree and said 'We can top that'

Since the New York Times published its bombshell report last week on the sexual harassment allegations against Harvey Weinstein, the number of accusers grown considerably in both number and in severity.

While much of the public’s attention is on high-profile accusers such as Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow, the film producer also reportedly took advantage of staffers, aspiring actresses, and other young women in the industry.

Emily Nestor, for example, was a temporary front-desk assistant when Weinstein reportedly said he’d boost her career if she accepted his sexual advances. Another Weinstein employee, Lauren O’Conner, penned a scathing memo to the company detailing more alleged abuse.

“I am a 28 year old woman trying to make a living and a career,” she wrote, according to the New York Times. “The balance of power is me: 0, Harvey Weinstein: 10.”

In a New Yorker exposé published on Tuesday, 16 current and former staffers told Ronan Farrow, that, in his words, “the behavior was widely known within both Miramax and the Weinstein Company.”

We want to know if there are more victims out there who were not given the chance to speak out.

If you feel you have been personally abused or harassed by Weinstein at any time during your career, send an email to carla.herreria@huffpost.com to talk about it.

This is the Hollywood equivalent of having sex with a guy willingly you met at a party 'cause you were horny and he was kinda cute, then your lesbian friend convinces you a week later that you really didn't want to do that and it was, in fact, rape.

Did anyone else notice the Golden Globes were a massive sperg fest of Women patting each other on the back and saying "time's up" and how brave they are...

But no one had the balls to name Harvey, No one thanked Rose Mcgowen, and they celebrated Kirk Douglas, a 101 year old animated skeleton who LEGITIMATELY raped women in his hayday?

Hollywood acted all smug about how brave and progressive they are now, but didn't actually do anything brave or progressive.

It's all for publicity at this point. They all want to earn their activist badge.

Speaking of Rose McGowan...

Rose McGowan is turning #MeToo activism into her own E! reality show

Soon, you'll be able to keep up with actress/artist Rose McGowan — pugnacious punk activist, commandant of #RoseArmy and #MeToo rager against the Hollywood machine — as she navigates the tumult of her current life in an E! reality TV series.

The pop-culture network that brought you Keeping Up with the Kardashians announced Tuesday that it has picked up Citizen Rose, a two-hour documentary special on McGowan's activist lifestyle airing Jan. 30 (8 ET/PT), with four more episodes due this spring.

"You are formally invited into my mind and world," McGowan said in a press release from E! "I am thrilled to partner with E! to amplify my message of bravery, art, joy and survival."

McGowan, 44, is one of the key figures who helped set off the cascade of sexual harassment and assault scandals that have felled so many powerful entertainment industry men since October, starting with movie producer Harvey Weinstein.

Rose McGowan makes the list: These 10 people made the biggest impact in entertainment this year

McGowan accused Weinstein of raping her, then reached a private settlement with him in 1997, a fact The New York Times disclosed in a bombshell investigation of Weinstein's alleged sexual misconduct reaching back decades. (He denies all allegations of non-consensual sex.)

Instantly, McGowan catapulted to prominence as the loudest and angriest leader of the #MeToo movement to shame predators and claim solidarity among accusers. Soon, she was directing an online army — #RoseArmy — of women seeking revenge, justice and a reckoning for abusers.

In the span of 10 days, McGowan was arraigned (on drug charges), met with former President Barack Obama and became one of Time magazine's silence-breaking "People of the Year" for her role in calling out Hollywood predators.

"By going up against the Hollywood machine, McGowan has shown true courage in the face of adversity, and this documentary will take you behind the scenes of her tumultuous and fascinating life," E! gushed in its announcement. "She will process, in almost real time, the massive social change she has helped usher in, as well as fight back against those who have hurt so many, including her."

McGowan and E! describe Citizen Rose (McGowan will be an executive producer) as a glimpse into her world — her art, her army, her music, her activism and the book she is preparing to publish, Brave.

"I realized I wanted to show how we can heal through art even when being hounded by evil," McGowan said in her statement. "I want to have a conversation with everyone, and most especially, you, about looking at things differently and seeing beauty everywhere. E!’s tremendous reach and impressive platform allow me to globally communicate the importance of living a BRAVE life."

Amy Introcaso-Davis, E!'s executive vice president for development and production, said McGowan's courage ignited a conversation and inspired other women to speak out against their abusers.

“We look forward to taking viewers inside this talented, dynamic woman’s world as the first allegations unfold and she becomes a leading voice in a critical cultural change,” Introcaso-Davis said.

So it's gonna be like that Scientology show Leah Remini only about Hollywood rapists?

"By going up against the Hollywood machine, McGowan has shown true courage in the face of adversity, and this documentary will take you behind the scenes of her tumultuous and fascinating life," E! gushed in its announcement. "She will process, in almost real time, the massive social change she has helped usher in, as well as fight back against those who have hurt so many, including her."

Oh God... That PR is really overdoing it.

I'm curious to see what this is all about and if it's a trainwreck or not. Leah Remini at least took the piss out of Scientology in front of millions of people. But it's still got that "revive my career" feel to it.

I didn't catch A Tale of Two Coreys. I forgot all about it. I'm sure it will get some reruns.

See on one hand Walhberg asking money for the re-shoots is smart because he probably had some previously planned work he needed to cancel so it's just him being professional.
But on the other hand there is a now a woman who did her re-shoots for free and she is now looking extremely stupid for not asking for $$$$ so clearly he is the most evil man on earth.
So in real life he is smart and on the insane parallel earth known as twitter he is evil.
Both at the same time.

All this fucking nonsense about how this is a "turning point" for Hollywood is making me sick to my stomach, and it's because of predictable shit like this. What, because there's a trend of naming and shaming, the dominance behavior isn't going to keep happening? How do they figure that?

People are drawn to positions of power because they can use that power to get what they want. Certain types of amoral, warped people are drawn to these positions because they can use power as leverage to force people to do things they don't want to do. As long as gatekeeper positions exist, fucked up people will attain them and use them to control and exploit other people, and no Twitter movement is going to stop that because it's been happening for all of human history.

In a few years, if it even takes that long, the same shit will be happening in Hollywood, and I expect many of the same offenders to be back at it while everyone else looks the other way. And if most of the women who are now making the "I was groped 20 years ago in an elevator and now I have PTSD" accusations could stop aging (fuck you, Ashley Judd, you bulldog-looking nutter, you waited until the second Weinstein couldn't help your career anymore to name him and join the, ahem, dogpile), many of them would go right back to trading sex for fame and riches. Guaranteed.

Whelp this is disappointing to say on my end, but apparently Stan Lee is the newest target.
When men really get up there and start going senile, lewd and inappropriate behavior like this commonly starts to manifest itself. I think Lee is an annoying hack, but they need to get off his arthritic back. I hope I'm spry and lucid enough to lift a few nurse's skirts if I am lucky enough to make it to 95.

I didn’t catch the movie either. It’s a LifeTime movie and it mostly relied on Feldman for information so I don’t expect for it to be the movie of the year.

This. Plus Wahlberg is an A list actor who's a household name so he can command that kind of money. What bargaining power does Williams have? I literally had to look her up because her name sounded familiar.

Michelle Williams is probably secretly jealous that she didn't take a deal.
