Orbiter Patrick Bronsgeest & Brenda Bronsgeest / CyberOps31 / Galaxy Productions / brendab1971 / patrick31vw - Professional Visual Basics hacker with a decade's history in catfishing

So I'm just about through investigating this story (I think so anyway) and I may have gotten a potential answer about what made this catfishing empire "tick".

What usually happens when I've exhausted something as much as possible is that Google starts flagging my addresses as suspicious and requiring me to enter a CAPTCHA every time I want to try a new search string:

Anyway, lets start with how I assume Patrick and co make their money: online advertising and multi level marketing schemes (which explains why they have so many fucking twitter accounts and seem to have an interest in gaining large numbers of followers.

The best indication I have that this is true is a username of his. There's also a possible pseudonym "James" and of course a severe case of over promising and under delivering as well as accusations that he not only plagiarized posts from other forums but also created dozens of sock accounts. If this is true then this all crumbled away sometime in 2015/2016. (he also spells Phil as "Phill")

Besides all of that, he points to "personal circumstances" in October 2015 as being a reason behind delays (which is something he also mentioned when delayed his Sims mods as you'll see further down the page):

Although the writing is quite different to the Mysterywoman persona, we know that when Patrick wants to be serious, he can write properly (Sons of Falcon).

Anyway, that's something I can't be 100% certain on just yet.

Moving on to my best explanation for the Mysterywoman persona... severe cabin fever combined with economic hardship, personal loss and other factors which will never be fully known. As much as I hate to humanize people who have done things like these two, sometimes shit happens to humans that isn't the greatest.

As I'm sure anyone who has read this thread and the mysterywoman thread knows, its also extremely difficult to know where the truth begins and ends, but here are some screenshots:

Patrick's own words were that his son started having health issues (not shown here but in other posts) and then he himself had "health problems" sometime around 2006:

http://archive.fo/LykJb

In various online profiles he claimed to be a "retired game developer". Retired is a very broad term and there can be instances where people are forced into retirement at a fairly young age (he was in his early 40s when he "retired" I believe)

Patrick's profile on the "Trainz Discussion Forum" lists his occupation as "Retired / Homebound":

In mid 2009 a user on a Sims forum indicated that Patrick had recently lost someone who was very close to him:

https://www.modthesims.info/archive/index.php?t-357537.html
http://archive.fo/bshbW

At some stage around 2011 or earlier (possibly 2009 when Patrick lost someone who was "close to him") Brenda had people asking about her son being taken by the government:

https://archive.fo/LuJfv
(more discussion of that by @Nope here: https://kiwifarms.net/threads/patri...ab1971-patrick31vw.38531/page-35#post-2977302)

In late 2015 Patrick's Tumblr dedicated to his Sims game mods alluded to some "life altering events":
upload_2018-1-23_22-18-28.png

http://cyberops.tumblr.com/post/135346041365/mod-updates
http://archive.fo/aSAwk

In late 2017 (a mere 2 months before the Kimberlie Brink saga) Patrick posted on some Sims forum about not even having a PC. He seems to indicate that the PC he did manage to get may not even be adequate to run The Sims 3 (which would mean its a piece of shit):

http://www.modthesims.info/archive/index.php?t-552987.html

Based upon all of these posts, it appears that Patrick may have a severe health issue which prevents him from being able to work fully or leave his house, I wasn't able to find what the specific health issue may be though.

He seemed to have immersed himself in the game modding community for many, many years and never managed to deliver any fully featured product. His skills in modding were highly praised on occasion, but seem limited to making coding adjustments and working/improving/compiling other's mods. Over time its apparent he had become notorious for over promising and under delivering as well as misappropriating the creations of others to try and hype up his own products.

After the government took away their child at some stage around 2009 - 2011 its plausible that Patrick and Brenda (or perhaps only one of them) turned inwards and began their catfishing empire. It is not known if they massively profited from this scheme (although there does exist an Amazon wishlist) or whether crimes such as blackmail or extortion occurred behind the scenes, although it seems very likely that the effort to deceive people began at around this time.

Patrick being unable to have a PC which was even capable of playing The Sims points to likely economic hardship and probably desperation to make ends meet to some extent (assuming he isn't receiving government support because of his unknown injury/illness).

Its still very unclear whether he/she/they were just fucking with DSP via the Kimberlie Brink persona or there was something going on behind the scenes and we probably will never know.

Dsp always attract the best autism, deep inside the rabbit hole

These sims modders are like the ultimate form of autism. One of them made a mod which added "rape" to the game.

<Nec> I don't see why everyone got so pissed off about the rape hack. Everyone wants murder hacks, but ZOMG not rape.
<Nec> I'd actually like the rape hack. For story purposes.
<Kyna> Nec, the isue wasn't whether one should find the rape hack offensive or not. It was that someone who created a hack that some people find offensive is treading on thin ice when they turn around and complain about offensive content.
<Aggie> Nec, I agree with Inge that the rape hack is NOT something to be in arms about. But to ignore people's complaints about offensive material just to do the exact same thing is hypocritical.

>This mod, originally by Darkpool, updated by Semajitor, fixed by darkkitten, now without incest by me. This allows teens to get pregnant by teens to adults and allows Sims to woohoo naked. I can do other flavors if asked (Polygamy, No Jealousy, etc). Same Sex pregnancy is not in this mod as it is a little bugged, but can be included if requested.
>This mod will make your Sims no longer get abducted. Yay! This is compatible with my No Alien Babies mod.

Domains that expire enter a redemption period for 60 days or so and then the registration expires. So if another person registers the domain after the redemption period (which is so someone who forgot to pay can get their domain back) then the domain name will have a "fresh registration" which separates it from its past.

So some domains that existed before and no longer exist will not bring up any WHOIS records unless you pay for access to databases which keep historic WHOIS records.

Well:

http://www.simcontrol.es/

Is the site, some of its in Spanish some of its in English. I tried using wayback machine to see if there was anything about it getting hacked

Oct 3 2009 - https://web.archive.org/web/20091003171021/http://www.simcontrol.es:80/sims
Oct 12 2009 - https://web.archive.org/web/20091012212943/http://www.simcontrol.es:80/sims

Seems they went a bit DSP and google adsense

Google translated text:

New announcements
Written by PAUSIMS
Saturday, September 12, 2009 4:08 PM
Due to the great growth of SimControl during the last months, we had to double the bandwidth contracted in our hosting provider. That, logically, has doubled the site's bill, already reaching several hundred euros a year.

To put some remedy to the problem and be able to continue with the web, above all of the forum we have placed a horizontal block of ads, also on the left of most download pages we have placed vertical blocks.

Those ads give us some money for every click they receive. That money will help us to be able to maintain SimControl, and although they do not cover the total cost of the server, we can at least pay part of it.

The announcements are not in charge of SimControl, that is, we do not choose what is shown and therefore we do not control them. Of course, we guarantee that everything advertised is free of viruses and other infections, is reliable and is guaranteed by Google AdSense.

We encourage you to click on those ads (although you can not do it several times in a row because if they do not count), with those clicks we can go ahead with the community offering downloads, support and soon the magazine DecoSims

Thank you very much to all for the understanding and apologize the inconvenience that those changes suppose.

No mentions of a hacker anywhere looks like the site got an overhaul in November and is unusable with wayback machine. Again. No mentions of a hacker on that site.

[Edit]
It actually is usable you can proceed here:
https://web.archive.org/web/20091124081629/http://www.simcontrol.es:80/web/

I just thought, if the site got hacked you would think there would be some mention of it. On that site, not on their private blog thing.

https://web.archive.org/web/20091124083708/http://www.simcontrol.es:80/welc.html

It seems that it is the first time you enter SimControl. We want to explain how our website works: Downloads. Our downloads are divided into those of the web, created by Pilar, and those of the forum, created by the rest of users. To access those in the forum, you must be registered. Updates Daily or every two days we update in our initial page placing the new creations available to download in our web and in our forum. Free. All our content is totally free, for the downloads that registration is required it is clear that registering is also free of any cost. To maintain the web we do it with advertising revenues, a fact that ensures that everything remains free. DecoSims. This is the name of our magazine that is published for online reading every three months. In it we analyze the latest trends in decoration for The Sims 2 and The Sims 3, we advise you and tell you unique tricks so that your houses have an impressive style. We want you to enjoy SimControl and we encourage you to register by clicking here.
