Disaster The head of the UN calls out /pol/, stormfront, and the daily stormer - Talks about how evil it is that the Internet is Free, wants it to be controlled

Because they're fascists and the fact that people are allowed to speak their minds on the internet really bothers them.

Seriously, they’re probably salty about getting criticized and made fun on the internet and are using those darn white supremacists as an excuse to crack down on the freedom of the internet.

The Daily Stormer and the like have very low traffic and influence compared to the rest of the internet. If you really want to curb their influence, make fun of them and criticize their beliefs. Censoring them just promotes the Streisand Effect. Not to mention that those websites are basically containment units that are keeping a shit load of autism from infecting the rest of the internet.

The UN is also forgetting that by calling out these sites they are inadvertently going to increase the traffic to those sites and increase their userbases.

The UN only goes for the (perceived) weakest targets imaginable. That's why they bully Western countries over issues like this and how racist and sexist the US and Europe are instead of Egypt and Saudi Arabia which are full of extreme amounts of racism and sexism. That's why they're more concerned when /pol/ shares screencaps of subtitled Arab TV shows bashing Jews instead of being actually concerned that those TV shows are all over the Middle East and clearly have at least some audience.

This is old, like 2003 old, but still rings so true.

Why do these human right etc organizations do everything on their power nowadays to turn me a nazi? Why is generally a very minor internet sites fucking priorities necessary to mention in the world diseased with more important issues?

Remember this is an organization that puts Saudi Arabia in charge of a human rights committee.

Their priorities are not exactly in order.

/pol/ doesn't even generate most of these. They mostly come from a nonprofit called MEMRI. People complain about what they choose to present and "selectivity bias," and they're clearly pushing an agenda, but their actual translations are generally regarded as accurate. The people complaining that they're "out of context" never put them in a context that makes it look any better.
