Yeah... I agree with people who don't find his behaviour suprising at all.
So Chris has spent approximately $1,042 (that we know of) on Lego and other useless crap. So much for only a quarter of the original $2k. Sounds like someone's 'honor roll math' is a little rusty.

Geez, that's... As a person that has to pay bill and rent, that's so much money tojust spend on toys. I haven't even bought myself an new MP3 player (junkie stole mine) because I can't spare the cash.

I get people being annoyed/angry at Chris because of the way he mismanaged his money and then got angry about it but...it's Christian Weston Chandler. His personality has been on display on the internet for years. Nobody should be suprised at his behaviour. Of course he was gonna waste the money given to him largely on plastic blocks, of course he wasn't going to budget his money well. This is the man that kept asking for thousands of dollars for a doodle. Repeatedly.

It was more of a suprise that so many people parted with their money (thus enabling Chris to lego binge), than what happened afterwards.

Before anyone gets mad, I think we don't stress enough how much of a necessity these Lego are for Chris, it's much like a sane person can't understand the motivations behind OCD behavior or behind someone's addiction.

Yes, it's wrong of Chris to prioritize toys over essentials, no doubt. But to Chris' view, the Lego ARE essentials. Otherwise he wouldn't accept the amounts he spent on it and post about them (albeit fudging the numbers, but let's not attribute to malicious intent what we can easily attribute to ignorance).

In Chris' mind, getting mad at him for getting Lego is like getting mad at someone with depression for getting his Prozac.

That said, Chris is fat and stupid and he should really get into Mega Bloks like I do.
That's not actually the case. Chris will stop the legos when he needs to.

If Chris was less of a dum-dum, he would just pay a GRAND TOTAL for a 3D printer and use the many schematics and blueprints currently floating around for Lego block ripoffs and save himself a lot of money in the long run.

If that's the case, wow. But it's like, 'when he needs to' a tangible thing, or is it like the 'I can quit whenever I want, I just don't want to' of smokers? We've heard of him rebuilding his High School with a purpose but I assumed he'd keep correcting and improving on it forever.. haha, I forgot that the Chris way is the lazy way and when his thing is done, it's done and perfect.

No, literally, Chris can and will give them up when he has no other option. But he currently does have an option: begging. When that fails, he'll turn to other, more desperate options. Eventually he'll stop.

i wouldn't say it's "needs to" as much as it will be "literally cannot afford them"
That's exactly what I mean.

Just one problem with that plan. It requires effort. (:_(

I'm surprised that Chris hasn't considered making Sonichu and Rosechu medallions. Crayola Model Magic isn't that expensive, and he could make them to order if he wasn't sure just how many he'd sell. If he put these on eBay for $20 bucks a pop (there is actually some work involved in making these) I bet he could move at least a dozen of them. The medallion has a LOT of Christory behind it, and a lot of Christorians would be tempted.
That's all true but also this is something a normal person might do not Chris.

This would require work, effort, and other non-cwc things. I thought his medallion thing was sort of personal for him since he only made a few and for person reasons.

Well, an alcoholic will "give up" booze when he literally can't afford it and can't convince anyone to give him any, too. It's not a choice to give up when he stops getting legos simply because he's exhausted every option.

Heh, well, then you get into a debate about what is choice. Everyone ultimately decides when something isn't worth it to him. In this situation, Chris is complaining only because Barb is making his life uncomfortable and he wants to fix that with minimal effort.

It's like the difference between a chronic masturbator and a heroin addict. They're both addicts, true. But I think Chris is way closer to the chronic masturbator side, and he's just complaining loudly and publicly because he's a baby about discomfort.

Or when he *has* to. He can't eat Legos.
I not so sure...

Chris could have just announced his eBay auction and left out the whole thing about needing money for bills and Barb's teeth. (Most eBay folk don't tell you what they intend to do with their proceeds.) If he did this, he would probably have sold the same amount of merchandise, and people wouldn't be bitching at him.

This. Can't stress enough how pivotal Barb making Chris deviate from the norm is. It goes back to Chris begging Cole to take care of Barb. It was never something he had to deal with while Bob was still around. He was able to do his childish shit routine whenever and however he wanted. Now he has an added responsibility in the form his mother, and it is making his ability to do his normal pointless routine rather difficult.

Credit where credit's due: making Sonichu minifigs is actually not a bad idea. Some of them are the best art he's made in years (while others are Sonic Totem-esque horrors - can't win 'em all)
If not for the fact that he's using absurdly expensive base materials, it would be a good business plan.

The part about "ONLY a quarter of $2000" made me laugh though. A quarter's not much, right?
And I second the idea of making the "Post Reply" button say Hmmph or SO THERE.

I think we're all missing a very central point here, in regards to Chris not delivering then demanding more money.
Chris views the money he's getting more as donations to help him and "his family" than he does as payment for a product. In his mind, he more or less views the buyers who are buying his shit as people who just want to help him out, and that the product they're getting is secondary.
I agree. Chris seems to perceive a disconnect between him getting the money and him providing the item. I fully believe he would rather send the good. He views it as quite unfortunate that he isn't able to. But it isn't a necessity, and by no means is anyone entitled to a refund. At first I was a little surprised, since Chris seems to have been a fairly reliable online buyer and seller in the past. But then I started looking at it through my CWC vs non-CWC way of analyzing Chris' thought process. Non-CWC's have stopped giving Chris the money he "needs" therefore it is valid to pass the burden on to non-CWCs by not giving them the stuff they bought. The fact that they are not the same non-CWC's doesn't really matter, since anyone who isn't CWC (and maybe Barb) is not really a seperate person, just a different manifestation of the non-CWC being.

I disagree a little. At one point pre-sale, Chris protested that he would only spend 25% of revenue on lego. He made a deal with himself and the world. To him, this means that he is absolutely entitled to spend 25% on lego. If he is short $150 to meet other obligations this month, it doesn't even occur to him that he should have spent $150 less on lego, it means that he should sell an extra $200 of stuff so he has that $150 after the lego tax.

I think that is why he insists that he only spent 25% of the earnings on lego. Whether or not this is honest , he thinks "I only spent 25% on lego" is equivalent to "I didn't spend any money I shouldn't have on lego". I suspect the 25% is a little fudged, but he probably has justifications. Things like rounding down, not counting shipping costs, counting revenue instead of profit from his "business".

On the plus side, just a few months ago he was buying things like the 25th anniversary edition of Optimus Prime for $170 (instead of, say, curtains) using his tugboat and whatever was left of the money people here sent him. He's got whole new revenue streams to buy toys with now.
