Sorry if I'm late, this thread is 2 fast.

Honestly, I feel vaguely better about these naming conventions because at least he's using actual Japanese words instead of just Japanizing stupid shit like "Puresu Horuda". It's still shit, but it's a small step up. It's puzzling why he won't just check some name directories as that's easier. He must feel clever, I guess?

Adding 子 (ko, meaning child) at the end of feminine first names aren't that far fetched, because for a while, that used to be an extremely popular naming convention. If you look at the names of women born in the 80's maybe 90's, but that's sort of pushing it, and go back, names ending in 子 is common. I can see there being a female character called Hoshiko in some dumbass anime, though not irl.

With that said, it's not very popular in recent years and is thought of as being uncool. Too old school, I suppose. Though other feminine end characters are still in use, I guess.

I actually like the whole being in art club gives you a pass on being bloody thing because that's some Super Mario tier goofy game logic. It's hilarious, really. I understand that it totally clashes with the edgy mood Eva is trying to create, though. It would be so much easier for him if he would just embrace the memes/quirkiness. You can pull all sorts of weird shit out of your ass without being questioned. Though I have a feeling that the game would just get more pervy with some idiot upbeat harem anime logic thrown in.
so i guess we're not getting a fred durst-chan any time soon

Hi all, I've been lurking this thread for a few weeks and wow... I was wondering why YanSim had hardly any progress in the 2ish years (2015-now) after I got swept up in the bandwagon. This has been eye-opening.

I remember talking to my friends about this game back in my senior year of high school and being so excited about it. And then the panty shot mechanic came out and my interest started to wane from there (also because of the lack of substantial updates and crying about emails).

I don't even know where to begin, all of this is just a giant clusterfuck. YandereDev's incompetence? Use of 'placeholders'? Terrible attitude? Insistence that YanSim is a """Serious Game"""? Cringe-worthy characters? :autism:?

*sigh*

The names sound heaps better than what they were before. Still kinda weird, but at least he's using more than just google translate.
I'm not really bothered with names ending in -ko, especially if it's only one or two girls in the entire game. For example, one anime has 6 girls' names ending in -ko. The only problem is that Alex keeps pushing on realism in this game. If he accepted that it wasn't realistic, then I probably wouldn't be so hard on his naming conventions. But because he pushes so hard for this game to be taken seriously, it's just kind of annoying.

And I absolutely agree. If he kept the game goofy with a bit of a dark side, it would be 100 times better than what we have now.

So it's been 4 days since he was supposed to have a build, but shocker, no updates on his shitbox. I'm excited to see what little he's done this time. Obviously one's a dumb EE that people don't give a shit about. But I'm waiting to hear "look I added 165 new hairstyles and nothing else!"

He hasn't mentioned that one orange pig-tailed girl in a long ass time. Wasn't she supposed to be completely implemented and him having a kickstarter demo out by October of last year? The way he makes predictions on what he thinks he can accomplish is absolute nonsense, and it only shows his incompetency as a game developer.

Alex said he was supposed to release a build in 5 days.

If you notice on the assetstore for unity they removed the character packs that YandereDev uses.
https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/search/page=1/sortby=popularity/query=publisher:2998
So it just takes you to the front page of the Asset Store?

Now I'm not sure if this is gonna effect Alex that much now that he has purchased and acquired those models for his game, unless of course, he manages to get into some legal trouble with whoever he's gonna have to deal with with those models.

Edit: Didn't see the photos edited in at first, disregard what I said before.

EDIT:Finger slipped and this posted before I could write what I wanted to say

If he was trying to be realistic, he would have realized that many Japanese school girls in a modern setting adopt English names. That would have made his nicknaming much easier to do as they always pick cringy “cute” names like Coco or Alice(I’ve known at least 7 Japanese Alice’s)
But this is a weeb game and that would tarnish his vision of the glorious non-America worshiping Nippon

This is about a week late, but I’ve only just noticed that Alex put a link to some Valentine’s day fan art in the end of his Feb 15 blog post. Most of them are wholesome, but one of these is not like the others.
That's just wrong, also speaking of artists Koumi-Senpai the hentai artist got himself suspended one month on Deviant art for pornography and he will be back on DA in 2 days

I feel bad for the artists who wrote encouraging things because he has done nothing to deserve it. I'll just hope that they're just trying to ride Eva's coat tails. It can be really difficult to get publicity as an artist.

I mean he does put out badly coded builds and then spends the majority of the month putting out bug fixes that should have been there day 1. So he is technically working know it. Just not in any efficient way or with any actual workers conduct or integrity.

I want to see his commit logs on the assumption that he even uses source control at all. Ten hours of work probably equates to a dozen low-complexity lines changing in one file.

Maybe Game Asset Studio got wind of Eva and took down their models to prevent being irreparably associated with him.

It's more likely they just had a Javascript script that controlled facial features or something. There were warnings that every package with a JS script still in it was going to be deprecated at some point, but I don't remember if there was an exact date set. I can see though that a couple of the prominent JS-only packages on the store are now C# though, so maybe that happened.

I definitely don’t want to release Osana while there are still empty, vacant clubrooms containing soulless husks, so one of my higher priorities right now is decorating the clubrooms and implementing the club leaders and clubmembers.

"I-I'M WORKING ON OSANA GUYS!! THIS IS THE REASON I HAVEN'T DONE ANY PROGRESS IN A YEAR!!!! EVEN THOUGH MOST OF THE CLUBROOMS ARE PRETTY MUCH IRRELEVANT TO HER, IT'S STILL SUPER NECESSARY GUYS!!!"

Now nobody will be able to ask about Osana because there will always be a random fan that will quote this as his "real", important reason. I mean, I could understand if she were a club member or had to interact with any of the clubs in any way but from what we've seen so far she doesn't, she has no club and basically orbits Senpai all the time. And adding props to the clubrooms is like furnishing a house in The Sims, hell, sometimes it's harder in that game considering you have to do it yourself and all Alex has to do is whine to his volunteers so that they hurry up to give him the assets.

I can see why Dev feels like he has to work on the club leaders and members, but they’re actually pretty low priority; If Dev wants to have a working demo, he seriously could just use temporary things, such as the placeholder leaders, while he later works on making a proper game.

You could consider all of his sandboxes a demo, but the issue with calling it a demo is that there is no way to win the demo. A demo is "a demonstration of a product or technique", but in game lingo it’s basically "a demonstration of how a working game will be".
That’s all it is: a demonstration. He could of had this game released in demo ages ago if he just put in Osana.

Edit (just an add on): Hell, demos don’t have to be exactly perfect. For example, Subnautica had missing textures when it was in early access, but the game actually functioned and did what it was supposed to do: simulate trying to survive on an alien water planet. YanSim doesn’t meet this because the game’s purpose isn’t there; the purpose is to get rid of rivals, and we don’t even have the first one yet in 3~4 years.
