Given how Jake's chains of logic work, though, it's entirely possible he's decided his increased risk of cardiac problems due to his weight is genetic and that it's a "platelet disorder" because aspirin is specifically anti-platelet. We all know that he makes entirely irrational connections between things.

Doctors basically tell all men above middle age to take aspirin as a matter of course. Given that he has a relative that died young of heart disease, just about every doctor would tell him to do it. A daily regimen of aspirin is about as notable as taking vitamins every day. But Jake always has to insert himself into everything and center himself around whatever everyone is talking about.
