Phil is responsible for what his viewers say and what they are allowed to say. I'm assuming doubly so for his mods. He should probably check that Anonytism cat.

As a side note, I wouldn't mind a Butterbean vs afro thunder boxing match. Phil would bitch out though. I don't know why his fans think that Phil is a tough guy. The boy is softer than his mantits.

Yo Twitch’s new policy might make this hit Phil. That race comment, and coming from Phil’s own mod.

I'm not even gonna sift through the Twitch terms and conditions but Twitch and most services will not make one user liable for another user says (mod in their channel or not).

If Vidar got permanently banned and DSP didn't have any public punishment from Twitch then that is proof enough.

Although I doubt that Phil will face any issue for what this guy said, I wouldn't compare Vidar's ban to this. IIRC Vidar got banned for something that happened outside of Phil's stream and it wasn't on behalf of Phil. In this instance this guy is speaking about another streamer in Phil's stream as an acting Mod. Regardless, he should probably talk to his mods and let them know to calm down on saying dumb shit about other streamers. That would require him to stop doing it himself though so I dunno.

If it's not affecting Twitch's money, then don't count on it.

I really never got this meme. Phil is the 3151st "biggest" (read: smallest) channel on Twitch. They do not care about his money at all, especially since they're owned by Amazon.

To put this in more clear terms, if you were searching for Twitch streamers (assuming 25 channels per page) Phil would be on the 126th page.

Amazon most likely didn't buy Twitch to generate profit but instead to try and bruteforce their position in new media, like Amazon Prime vs Netflix. Netflix & YouTube are their serious competitors in online video and because Amazon owns Twitch it means they are more dominant in the livestreaming demographic (which is currently a fast developing area of media).

They are likely losing money at insane rates and not because of people like Phil but because the type of service it is means it is expensive to run. But it doesn't matter because Amazon funds them. Amazon will happily lose millions of dollars a year if it means they might gain in other sectors because they own Twitch.

Twitch not only relies on bits/cheers but also advertising and most importantly the ability for Amazon to continue to plug its core business which is selling shit online.

So not only does Phil make such an insignificant amount of money for them to not care about, its almost guaranteed that they are losing money and don't care about that to begin with, because being profitable is not always the goal in business.

Example:
YouTube was still unprofitable as late as 2016/2017:

I don't really want to thought police people (nor will I do so) but all of this speculation implying that Twitch not only cares about Phil's money or that Twitch has to take time out of their day to deal with complaints made against some minor channel really credits Phil with being way more popular than he actually is.

To further point out how out of touch with reality this speculation is:
  • Phil's channel:

  • The top 100th streamer:

Phil is only 8% as popular as the 100th most popular streamer on Twitch (based upon followers)

Random question: where does the "Greed is massively strong" clip come from? I'm so curious what he was originally talking about.

Out of curiosity can anyone explain to me or think up of any possible reasons Twitch would forbid fundraising on their site but carve out an exception for shilling for competitor credits like Phil claims they do? If they don't want to have the site turn into one massive begathon what sense does it make to ban their own method to funnel money but give free reign to other ways that put money through other companies? If anything wouldn't they allow only their products and ban everything else?

I didn't mean to sound like I was jumping the gun, but I thought I read that Twitch's new policy could put a streamer at responsibility of their community, unless they actively speak out against the behavior.

I think there is some wording that would suggest it, but a mod writing a few lines that are fairly sarcastic about boxing Tevin irl would most likely not trigger any form of punishment. Its most likely aimed at streamers who "call out" others and then turn a blind eye when their fans act autistic.

I really think the intention of the new rules is a specific reaction to a few incidents that were covered in the media (I linked them in a previous post) and are probably targeting streamers and communities that talk about groups of people or try to specifically target other individuals.

"If I win, it was fun and I'm such a great player, but if I lose, it's the connection's fault doooooode the other guys must be using dial-ups or pulled a lag switch or there's NO WAY i'd die Ackackack"

(Took the headset off and distant voice)"Kat can you stop watching youtube to learn how to cook while still playing overwatch? It lags the internet of the house you worthless human"

(Put the headset on) "Alright guys...........Oh? The mic was on? The mic was on the whole time eh? HuhLLO" (Rocking back and forth nervously)
