There is a difference between suicidal ideation and performative suicidal ideation. If you have a friend or loved one who seems to talk about being suicidal a lot but specifically in ways that make it seem like it's someone else's fault or responsibility, then it's possible they are using the concept of suicide purely for attention. These sorts of people can be draining and heartbreaking to interact with, and it's perfectly reasonable to protect your own mental health by disassociating from them if you need to. And remember, if someone kills themself then it was, for better or worse, their decision; while mental health struggles can be easier when someone helps you with them, the person struggling with them is ultimately the one responsible for acknowledging the situation and working to fix it.

I think it's more of a matter that they both hate their marriage but are unwilling to divorce without another prospect. Becky has made it clear that she doesn't think too highly of Jackson, that he doesn't provide for her or satisfy her various needs. I guess it's germane since Becka brought up enthusiasm for holidays on her own. I actually talked to my rabbi about people like Becky. I asked him what their deal was. He said that since the '70s you will see a type of convert who just wants to stick it to their (usually Catholic or Evangelical) parents by using Judaism (or Buddhism) to rebel. He said after 3-5 years they get bored and move on to a new faith, and not to worry since Judaism doesn't depend on people like that to continue.

I also asked my rabbi about Becky's habit of spending charity money on Didneyland and unkosher treats. He pointed to the Talmud.

“We should be grateful for the cheaters. Otherwise, anytime a needy person requested charity and a person failed to give he would be immediately punished.”
