You know, seeing these Christmas pictures reminds me of how much Bob cared about his son, unlike a lot of parents back then. Bob is around the same age as my grandfather was, and both of them had the same line of work. My parents always described him as being in a bubble, where all he did was go to work, eat dinner and then sleep, not really caring about his 3 daughters (not even at Christmas). Bob on the other hand seemed to try to intervene and attempt to be the father figure Chris needed in his life, but Chris was too busy with the vidya or listening to the rubbish Barb was telling him about his autism.

I kinda feel sorry for him, because I'm sure he wasn't sure how to go about helping Chris learn about how to act like a normal person, since Barb was always there coddling him.

Yeah, it's really sad. There's a lot of things that were wrong with Bob- which might just be a result of the era and place he lived in -but it seemed, unlike Barb, Bob was at least semi-interested in seeing his son actually grow up and become a respectable young man. Bob, especially in these early photos, seems like the quintessential plucky grandpa, hangin' out with his little guy.

I just wish they would have enrolled Chris in fuckin special ed where they, gasp, help special children learn how to cope in neurotypical society. He might have still wound up being a self entitled prick, but he would at least probably have the skills to handle himself in real life with other people.

Special Education isn't really something that helps people. It's a place where schools put retards so they don't interrupt actual classrooms.

They do stress life coping skills and fundamentals that Chris still lacks.

Can confirm. My sister worked in a specialized school for kids with autism and other developmental disabilities, etc. Kids who started out much lower-functioning than Chris (e.g. 12-year-olds who had to be put in restraints to be diapered, and would spit during the process) came out with improved function. Not perfect, but when you're starting out with that level of difficulty, any improvement is a win.

Do stress coping skills help for an ultimately shitty life capping off with a pickle man stealing your girl, shitting your pants well into the age of 30, people you don't even know fucking with you, and a wiki dedicated to your entire existence?

No? Didn't think so.

they make you less likely to end up in that situation though i would presume

Yeah, if Chris had actually had his autism conditioned throughout his normal schooling, one can probably presume he'd be able to live a semi-normal life if not a moderately successful life. I don't know what kind of jobs you can get with a CADD degree in Virginia, but if there was any design jobs pay pretty decently and everything (better than min wage at Wendy's at least).

I wonder if it would affect her chances at jobs negatively, if her perspective employers read the CWCKI.

The fact that she spent her late teens/early 20's playing TCGs would probably be a neutral to slightly positive trait, it may be better than drug use/heavy drinking.

The fact that she befriended a autistic weirdo is probably a positive, shows she is a sympathetic person and can get on with difficult people.

The fact that it ended badly is definitely not her fault. Its effect probably depends how carefully the employer reads in to it. If he looks carefully, she might get one or two sympathy points, if not, she could lose a bunch of points from being called a troll and a bully by one of the most trolled and bullied people out there.

Overall, I think it probably is not the greatest thing for her, but I doubt it makes a huge difference. Things like making porn or getting arrested sometimes come back to haunt you, this is not like that.
I'd say if she starts out by making a good impression and employers bring this up later, she could say "That's a part of my life I've left behind and kids make a lot of mistakes". She'd be fine.

Basic CAD drafting jobs are not as common as a CAD position where the drafter has some kind of education in a particular field, like architecture or plumbing and HVAC, but they are out there. Starting salary would be around $30,000 per year, but not much room for advancement without going back to school to train in a specific area. A full mechanical or architectural designer will start around $40,000 per year.

I don't really think Chris has the aptitude or work ethic to make it as a drafter. You have to work directly with people, have good attention to detail, and a lot of times you have to interpret someone's sketch or diagram and make it work as a technical drawing.

Well yeah, Chris DOESN'T have the aptitude or work ethic, but with like... actual treatment and help during his formative years he could have. The only reason he's a lazy piece of shit is just because of how much he was coddled and reassured by people he trusted that his shitty recolors were legitimate art.

Oh Ahura Mazda, there is so much wrong with this picture. I don't even know where to begin. I mean:

-Chris' outfit consists of a grungy-looking Canadian tuxedo and that horribly crass "Enjoy Vagina" t-shirt.
-There are little kids and (presumably) their parents everywhere.
-Chris' ass overhanging like that.
-His ass fat is hanging down really close to that kid with the brown hair.

I can't help but wonder whether the people there would be more creeped out by "Enjoy Vagina" Chris or Tomgirl Chris.

Luckily, there does appear to be a metal pole shielding that innocent child from... whatever may happen. :briefs:

Conservative people would hate them both equally but in different ways, one for the tackiness of the offensive clothing* and the other because they're homophobic for (insert BS reason here).

More than likely, if he was there in drag it would potentially be less objectionable than outright offensive clothing because it's a little bit easier to tell an inquisitive child that "some men like to dress like women" than it is to explain "ENJOY VAGINA" in a PG manner.

*Going with "offensive clothing" as the bigger of the two annoyances because I was heading out of a Goodwill store one time and saw a high school-aged kid walking in with his mother. He was wearing an "EFUKT" shirt. Not sure if it's worse that I know what that is, or that someone still in grade school was wearing it.
