Seeing it this way, I agree that Viridian is a bit pushy and creepy on her part, though I still believe she is trying to be nice, probably in order to gain back Neons favor.

However, no one has a reason to say that Neon is not reacting sour or that this is caused by Neons autism, when it's clearly that Neon is sour and just wants nothing to do with Viridian.
The funny part about these discussions is that generally, 80% of the time, people are discussing what the character is even feeling/thinking and what the context behind it is, because it generally always seems to lack context or PK draws/writes interactions so badly, they do not come across as how she wants them to.

That's why Neon in her eyes is that clumsy lil autistic dork with a tacked on stroke of genius in the lab, when nothing that is ever actually shown of Neon brings this across. PK always tries to show things one way, when her art and text go a completely other way.
All that would've been needed for this scene was to show Neon more bumbly and nervous about Viridian and less annoyed and snappy, if "sour" wasn't what she was going for.

PK can't even decide if Neon's supposed to be bumbly and nervous or uncomfortable and annoyed. She goes from unambiguously shooting Viridian's offer down and scowling like she stepped in something unidentifiably brown to stuttering and acting like Jupet not wanting to talk to people is the problem. If "gross, pushy ex" was what PK was shooting for, a third "YES. FINE" would have gotten the picture across pretty clearly.

Glip's Response. "Full context of their relationship", what fucking context? The only 2 characters for months were Neon and Lily/Cozmo, maybe even Chip. Viridian is in the VN Tiger thing for 4 pages and that's it. If you never give any context, don't get mad when someone assumes something.
Hell, the first thing we heard of Viridian in like 2 years was that Neon broke up with her over email or just ignored her messages.

Remember when Glip defended Neon for not understanding social cues and that's why she was rude to Charthur for no reason? Glip isn't driving away just that one person, either. Other readers who see that kind of stuff are going to be reluctant to post, and some of them end up finding this thread. Her and Marl being shitty to people in comments was a big reason I found this place, along with a lot of other current posters. The commentator is being respectful. It's clear that they're interested and invested in the characters and story. Their comment about not all characters having to act like angels is important - these are Glip's self-insert characters, and viewing them as imperfect beings is a personal attack directly on Glip. The commentator probably doesn't understand that they're directly insulting Glip by being critical of Neon.

Honestly Viridian calling Neon “babe,” saying things like “I got your back, some things change but that never will” in front of her current girlfriend, and bringing up Neon’s sex life in front of her girlfriend’s children (one of whom is definitely old enough to understand what they mean by “alone time”) does come across as really creepy. If that’s the way they behave all the time I can understand why Neon would be so uncomfortable around them. If I remember correctly Viridian also briefly appeared in “Call Sign” and Neon was visibly uncomfortable around them then as well, which hints at their relationship being more complicated.

That being said Glip’s response makes no goddamn sense. And Neon should know by now that Viridian has to be told outright when they’re crossing the line because they’re too autistic to pick up on basic social cues (which is okay when Neon does it but not when other characters do it I guess).

Reading the interaction this way does make a small amount of sense. However, Floraverse is a world where people fuck in public, take weird drugs to grow monster dongs and fuck in pubic, get dick footrubs in public, and do basically everything in public. It's a free love paradise. Neon wanting to be private about her personal life directly clashes with content on Forbidden Flora showing that she's OK with public sexual displays. The overall setting combined with the lack of context about their relationship makes Neon look like a dick. I read Viridian's comments more as saying that she still cares about Neon as a person even though they're no longer in a relationship, i.e. an amicable split.

It's telling that Neon is surrounded by people who love and care about her, and yet she treats all of them like garbage. Stockholm syndrome sure is a bitch.

This is reminding me of how important it is to have characters with consistent but varying degrees of comfort/sensitivtiy in social situations. All of PKs characters (or i guess i should say most because she does have a couple diamonds in the rough) have no consistent reaction system to situations that might inspire discomfort. While in real life, different people are offended or upset by different things. For example some people might be upset by a joke but others won't think it's worth the energy.

If she had a consistent basis for how her characters react to things it would make them more solid and interesting. I think it's perfectly fine to have an "oversensitive" character. But they need to be consistent and also need to have examples of other levels of sensitivity to drive the point home that this is just how they respond to the world themselves.

Of course, Neon and Beleth became self inserts so I'm not sure if they could ever count with this.

Not that this is necessarily an excuse or a GOOD explanation, but Glip has always had it that red and white Beleth had different personalities because of how Red Beleth was personally effected by the events that led to White Beleths death. That theyre less fun and more grumpy, more collected, etc.

This ended up being just Red Beleth being self insert, but the intent was AT SOME POINT there. She just can't keep up with concepts for shit.
