TGWTG "Nostalgia Critic" / Doug Walker, Rob Walker, Mike Michaud, Mike Ellis, Holly Christine Brown, et al - The Incompetent Predator-Protecting Upper Management of Channel Awesome, Doug Still Not That Funny

I hope this kills Channel Autism.
Their content creators are all awkward aspergians who have the onscreen charisma of dead fish and the same speech patterns as the members of my College's anime club. This is all compounded by the recent allegations of mismanagement and sexual abuse.
I'm baffled that they have enough fans to stay active, but I guess autistic children want to watch videos from people they can relate to.

So, basically all the higher ups at Channel Awesome were autistic LARPers who wanted to live the lives of Hollywood bigshots, but didn't know anything about how to manage, direct, act, write, etc.

I don't remember which of the multiple CA threads on here I saw someone suggest this, but I think a more apt description of Doug is that he views this whole schtick as his attempt to live out an Animaniacs fantasy IRL. He views himself and his various characters (bum, bartender, etc) as the head honchos (like the three black dogs, idk what they are cause I never watched that show, just his commentary on it from ages ago), and every other contributor solely exists to be a wacky side character with a gimmick. Admittedly its just pure baseless speculation as to what goes on in his head, but it explains so much to me, from his forced idea of what humor is, to his micromanagement of what he wants everyone else to do on camera, literally everything can be summed up as Dougs cartoon fantasy he attempted to live out IRL.

As for Rob and Michaud, maybe they were just willing to play along if they thought they could get a quick buck from it, and as a result saw themselves as having a "tardwrangler" relationship with everyone else on the site.

Doug is extremely autistic, but who knows. I bet this was posted before, but this true anecdote shows it off perfectly:

I love how instead of asking if the cinnamon roll belonged to anyone, he not only just ate it without knowing where it came from or how long it had been sitting there, he also announced to everyone that he was going to eat it like a fucking cartoon character.

I think that was earlier on in this one and in the Multimedia thread.

You're basically spot on. That's who watched TGWTG at the local college I used to go to, fat nerds who sat in a public "student lounge" area all day doing nothing but watching YouTube videos, playing vidya, and being all around autists, and this was a year or so after the Demo Reel disaster too.

Tl;dr-

Channel Awesome is literally The Disaster Artist 2.0
At least Tommy Wiseau tried, and now he manages to have fame/popularity for being a laughable actor, while being self aware enough to cash in on it bigtime.

Could have also been that he actually knew and wanted to get a reaction out of everyone by playing the dumb guy. Idk, maybe I'm just too jaded to believe in sheer coincidences like these anymore, but knowing Doug I guess either possibility is believable to some extent.
