OP here of that post. I've been debating signing up for KF to post this for a long time, actually, but there really isn't a more appropriate place to say all this. There's no evidence since this was about 6 years ago, at this point, but it's more fuel to the fire that I guess you guys will be eager to gobble up
As someone who was extremely young in PMD-E (joined at 11, was a member until just a few days after I turned 13), it was everywhere. PMD-E was very heavily marketed towards children and minors, and PK very often presented her material as tangent to official Nintendo content. The colors, the format, the mod team (who overall weren't too bad -- props to Mike for getting the absolute fuck out of there all of 3 days before PK went nuclear for the first time). All of it was very kid-friendly. And then PK was a loose cannon at the head of things.
Between 11 and 13, here's what I experienced in PMD-E...
- Was repeatedly tricked into viewing NSFW content, the Shroomsworth and PK comic being one that stands out. "I'll continue on tumblr to avoid spamming!" with no NSFW flags. Yeah. thanks PK. Also, multiple NSFW streams, none of which were flagged as such. To be fair, I was also completely oblivious to the nature of things like the ball gag accessories and rape undertones, as children are, but it was uh. Definitely uncomfortable, especially in retrospect.
- Everyone tiptoed around PK. Everyone. There was constant battling for who got "cameos" in official PK content, and PK drew the characters so generically and off model there was no actual way to tell. I think they actually got kinda tilted about it once or twice.
- Everything was bad. Just, all around. PK was horribly off-model for so, so many things. I mean, PK took some pretty extreme liberties with a few Pokemon designs, and then had her crew get on a personal friend's ass for giving an otherwise on-model sneasel furry boobs. Hypocrisy and bullshit all around. Also, why get pissed about giving a sneasel tits when you're gonna give Pokemon dicks?? I don't see penises anywhere on Sugimori's art, PK.
was great for my art, but for the last 6 years they've been just. Doing this shit. And as a marketing student, I can most definitely verify PK's marketing strategies are VERY minor-focused, even for Flora/ForFlor. Incl. color, composition, wiki links, and most importantly: ad placement. PK has Flora ads on FlightRising, which is a whole other can of worms.
Even if she isn't just out here with chat logs of her grooming minors, she's still targeting them. Just... less like the creep on the subway, and more like the neighborhood ice cream truck.
