This anniversary special was cancelled on account of all the content creators jumping ship. Per Goldmark, only eight were involved because CA wanted it to be a smaller affair. The only confirmed participants beyond the Chicago crew were Goldmark and Stuckmann. A part was written for Linkara, but he opted out early.

Here's a great question: what was it about Channel Awesome that caused this to happen? And what I mean is, how did one website manage to attract a whole bunch of autists, weirdos and just exceptional lolcows? With almost every other website similar to CA, you'll find some cows. But you'll also find a lot more normal people as well.

But with CA that was never true. Practically everyone at CA was a cow. Almost all of them fit into the category of the standard rejects of society that found a voice on the internet. How did one website manage to reel in so many of these humans to represent their website?

Now that we know exactly how the place was run, these are the only kind of people they would be able to recruit. Since the only payment you got was exposure, that means almost all of these people weren't good enough to strike it out on their own. If you were good enough to support yourself with online videos, then why would you need this place? Theoretically once you got the exposure and became popular you should be able to stand on your own feet.

So CA created this image that working there was great because you got to be part of a fun, supportive community and didn't need to worry about copyright strikes. The smart one's left early once they realized the whole "community benefit" angle was bullshit. If anyone tried standing up for themselves CA would just "fire" them and find some other patsy lured in by false promises.

The only people who would put up with that kind of situation for an extended period of time are losers with unwarranted egos who are highly exploitable. In other words, cows.

Everything /tv/ has ever claimed about every current or former TGWTG member has been total horseshit. It was all said to fuck with them, and it worked given how far some rumours spread. The Spielberg thing was (as far as I know) only debunked a few weeks ago, for example.

I re-watched his "I Quit" video and its full of cringe and awkwardness, and a couple of people laugh at him (at Doug being an idiot, not Doug being clever), and despite the filmed evidence, I bet in Doug's mind there were cheers and applause.

I said it before and I'll say it again: that video showcases what a moron Doug truly is. What do you have to gain from doing that? All your doing is burning a bridge with an employer and ensuring that no other employer outside a fast food place will ever want to hire you. As much as you hate your job and want to tell your boss to go fuck himself, you should never do that because it ruins your professional status in the job market. Keep that boss you hate as an asset instead of an enemy. That'll actually benefit you in the long run.
