TGWTG "Nostalgia Critic" / Doug Walker, Rob Walker, Mike Michaud, Mike Ellis, Holly Christine Brown, et al - The Incompetent Predator-Protecting Upper Management of Channel Awesome, Doug Still Not That Funny

Not surprised since ShortFatOtaku was looking into the forums hours ago. Don't know if he was going to make a video about all the gore, porn and abuse on there.

No actually, they honored his request. Nash even batted for them on his Tumblr when someone was shit-talking fanfic. I think JO eventually requested that there be no stories about them period, but it didn't really matter since for the most part it was Linkara and Spoony focused.
The fact he expected saucy fanfic of him was the wishful part.

Are there any archives? I would fucking love to see what unironic TGWTG fanfiction is like.

I remained a fan of Justin after he was removed from CA. He streamed a lot on Twitch. He got a job at a local gaming store at one point. (The kind of store that sells board games and Warhammer 40k). Colorado Springs is a really small town, and sort of isolated. He did go to a few conventions, but not many because his revenue stream went down significantly after being dropped by CA. He talked about that on the streams sometimes. He also got a quite a bit pervy and inappropriate on some of the streams. He would sometimes flirt really heavily with some of the women in the stream chat.

I think before he killed himself he had lost the job at the game store. He had also stopped streaming in the month or so prior due to Twitch changing the way it works with streaming applications, and there wasn't a program for Mac OS that would work.

I don't know if there was any further physical contact with fans, due to being just a fan myself, but it's certainly possible he continued long distance relationships with victims.

I also know he was in the process of working on his FamiKamen Rider series around the time he ate his gun. However, I do recall there was some difficulties during the production that could've affected that. Things like monetary issues, filming, getting stunts to work properly, etc. This was a field that he was entering with little knowledge of doing. Yes, he knew a thing or two about filming, but that was just placing a camera on a tripod and speaking to it. This was a full-blown fan production.

I'm not saying for certain that the issues surrounding his tokusatsu series he wanted to make was the ultimate cause of his suicide, but the stress surrounding the making of one, and a fan-made one at that, could've contributed to it.

Banned for what...? Harsh moderation over there.
Presumably linking to us, or at least quoting us. It's honestly not that harsh considering the type of shit SweetNicole will ban you for.

Guru Larry gets marked as a goober, too. See Larry, come and join us, it's not like the SJWs were holding on on deciding what bucket to categorize you in. https://www.resetera.com/threads/no...tail-a-history-of-abuse-read-op.33557/page-48 (https://archive.fo/OFQKD)

No, he won't. James is probably the only smart one out of the whole internet reviewer bunch and keeps his personal life and opinions (save for entertainment) far separate from his professional life and business. He only ever said anything about Ghostbusters 2016 because people on both sides kept pestering him incessantly to say something, and I can imagine the backdraft he got from that reinforced his personal choice to not get involved in internet slap fights.

But as I said earlier in the thread, having a kid (who had medical complications from birth) probably put a whole hell of a lot into perspective for him. He's perfectly fine balancing his work and family lives and managed to be pretty successful with his non-AVGN works, while Doug is running around like a stunted, emotionally inept manchild who doesn't realize the room is on fire all around him.

To be fair, James has only had to deal with himself and didn't have a 100+ autistic gadflys to wrangle while trying to run a corporate business model. James had a lot less responsibilities and people to contend with. That being said, James definitely has always been the more mature and sensible individual in a community of insane narcissists from the beginning. James has spent the last decade improving his craft in one thing and gradually branching out, while Doug has spent it being mediocre in many things and jumping headfirst into new endeavors.

What is with these forums still talking about Gamergate when they try and discredit someone? They hold on to that even though Gamergate ended 3 years ago now.

I'd figure Brad owns part of CA but not for the reasons you think. CA needs Brad a lot more than Brad needs CA (iirc CA begged Brad to join because he already had a big following at the time they had asked). From what I've seen of him he tries to stay out of drama unless he absolutely has to give input, and despite being a staunch Democrat (and thus an SJW by the standards of a sizable chunk of Kiwis) has never been obnoxious about it. And I'd figure a lot of the CA affiliation has to do with the fact that Springfield, IL is just a couple hours drive to the Chicago area so he wouldn't be as much of a problem to do NC collabs as far as logistics go as most of the other people on the site at its peak.

Wrong. Brad had a following but it was pretty small before he became part of CA. It was Spoony that first gave Brad exposure and most likely got him on the site.

I like Brad but if you follow his Twitter he enjoys responding to every Trump tweet with insults. Like most of the Left, they just went nuts when Trump got in.
