I think I could think of a reason.

The transgender community condemns anything that has to do with de-transitioning: discussion, debate, statistics, handling cases, etc. For some reason the trans community actively rejects the possibility someone might want to do a complete 180 with their life again. They probably fear that the opposite side of the table would be like "But there are people that regret transitioning, look at the damage they imposed to themselves! We can't promote everyone to go for hormones and surgeries without self-reflection first!". It would go against the world they want to force on everyone, including people in a huge crisis that could potentially pick up being transgender as a shield against their own distress.

There are a lot of possibilities really and I think it's very possible that de-transitioning was the culprit of those two breaking up. What I'm certain of however is that given Perez's character, he would have probably outed her lies after they broke up. He really sounds like a person that would do that as yet another rant on twitter. But again I feel like the whole "Trans activist" reputation forbids him to do this, in order to maintain the face of the tranny that never doubts about their transition ever. Who knows. This situation is intriguing either way.
